Why would we want him here if he doesn't want to be here?

It's like forcing a girl who doesn't like you, to just marry you.

Even without Lamb or D-Mo our offer is better than Cleveland's clearly IMO.

I don't think Orlando wants what Cleveland can give as much as Houston. The only reason Cleveland is in the mix is that the Lakers want to send Bynum to the eastern conf.

    My guess is:

    Martin
    T. Jones
    Morris
    Toronto #1
    Dallas #1

    for Bynum and J Rich.

    Lin / Machado
    JRich / Lamb / Zoran
    Parsons / White
    Patterson / DMo
    Bynum / Asik

That team is 2-3 years from contending.

As I have mentioned before, all the Magic have to do is tell Dwight he either agrees to extend with LA or they ship his ass to Houston. So I think it's either Bynum or nothing.

@Chris_Broussard: Sources confirm @JRudolphSports report that Dwight Howard is ready to join Lakers. If traded to LA DH will re-sign long-term with team

Ya why would ORL prefer Varejao+non guaranteed lottery picks to Martins expiring, patterson, morris, rookie(s), and a guaranteed lottery pick.

I wish we give up Patterson before Jones. Anyway, I am not sure if we can actually get Bynum even though we can outbid Cleveland on paper.

Now the question is are you willing to build around Lin, Bynum, & rookies?

    I say yes.

I'm thinking now that the Cavs can offer Varejoa and get Bynum, what can we offer is only picks. The only way the Magic would take our deal is if we can take at least one bad contract, give at least 2 picks and probably 2 rookies out of D-Mo, Parsons, Jones, Lamb & White.

This doesn't change our position at all. We have been trying to trade for Howard without a guarantee. We still are.

    I hear you Orem.

I know we can trump Cleveland's offer EASILY.

I'm just wondering at this point, where Morey is on Bynum. How far will he go for Bynum (and not Howard)?

I understand what you are saying about the smokescreen being that Cleveland is the third team, but if Morey isn't as interested in Bynum, does he offer "so little" that Cleveland COULD compete?

    (hope that makes sense)

Why would they want Varejao anyways if he isn't an expiring contract?!

If I'm the Rockets i still don't care whether howard is willing to sign an extension with the lakers. I still go after howard and try to sign him to an extension here. We would be in full control of where he goes essentially because the lakers or any other big city would not be able to sign him outright. You think he will leave 30 million dollars on the table to go to another city/team like houston? Highly doubtful.

If the Magic would prefer Varejao than that is their problem.

No way in hell should Varejao get you Bynum.

Would you rather have Bynum who says he wants to be here and says he will definitely sign? Or would you rather have Howard who doesn't want to be here and even if he signs an extension might still be flaky and try to push his way to a bigger market?

That's probably oversimplifying... we don't even know if we have Bynum's assurances yet. But it may come down to that for Morey.
