Not looking NEARLY as good as it has been this last week. I'd say it' more likely he's a Laker now than a Rocket. hope I'm wrong :(

From @JRudolphSports: http://tinyurl.com/czq9hmp My take-Howard making it known to Rockets he'd rather chase rings in LA than be part of Linsanity

Getting Bynum is pretty good for us. We can keep our rookies and Bynum is willing to play here. Win-win.

Oh, and just to add to this. I wouldn't worry about the Cavs. Any draft picks they could give would be outside of the lottery, and their prospects (except Irving who is untouchable) are less appealing than ours. We have a pick virtually guaranteed to be a lottery pick, they don't. We can take back more salary, and from Orlando's perspective, Kevin Martin is a much more useful asset than Varejao, because he can be flipped more easily at the deadline for a draft pick, which is what they want more than anything else.

    http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/222486/Dwight_Howard_Ready_To_Commit_To_Extension_With_Lakers

Dwight Howard has long coveted the Brooklyn Nets as his next landing spot, but after a summer filled with daily rumors of four-team trade proposals, the six-time All-Star has moved on from his Big Apple infatuation and is locked in on joining the Los Angeles Lakers, according to sources.

The Lakers, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers are reportedly discussing a three-team trade that would send Howard to the Lakers, Andrew Bynum to the Cavaliers, while the Magic would receive Anderson Varejao and multiple draft picks.

Howard has always been impressed with the Lakers’ winning tradition and intrigued with the off-court opportunities that come with playing in Los Angeles.

Questions about Howard's role with the team, however, became an early concern for the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Howard has since moved on from those concerns and is confident he will be an integral part of a team that will have a chance to compete immediately for a championship, according to sources.

The Lakers are reportedly ready to make the trade, but first need assurance from Howard that he will commit to the team long-term. Sources say Howard is “excited” about the opportunity to play for the Lakers and will re-sign with the team when his contract expires at the end of the 2012-13 season.

Taking in Bynum and keeping D-Mo and Lamb...

    Major Major Major Win.

Get it done Morey, not even my fellow rebuild guys could disagree with this one.

So now it's going to be either us or Cleveland who's going to be making a play for Bynum.

What all would we be giving up in a Bynum package?

Calm yourself. It's a smokescreen to make Morey give up more. No way can the Cavs offer more than us.

I agree that the Cavs have no where near as much as we can offer but i am still concerned that Morey was all in on howard and not all in on Bynum.

I don't see how any team can outbid us though- LA or otherwise. Wouldn't Orlando still trade him to Houston if we offer the most, even if he says he doesn't want to come here?

    Agreed.

I don't see how leaking that Dwight is ready to commit to LA could be a smokescreen, unless it is being leaked by Orlando.

For some reason this one does seem legit as he is likely finally starting to realize he's going to LA or coming to Houston.

Like OlajuwonFan said, not sure how "in" Morey will be on going after Bynum. IF it somehow allows us to keep Lamb along with D-Mo (who I don't think he was going to have to give up), then I'm good with it.

But, he may "let" Cleveland have it by not beating their offer, if he's not completely sold on Bynum.

    Oh Yes.

Howard is hell bent about not playing for Houston. Fine, as he was not going to re-sign with us anyway.

Time to go for plan B: Bynum.

I wasn't saying the Dwight ready to sign in LA thing was a smokescreen. I was saying the Cavs being involved in three way discussions is a smokescreen.

Duh Dwight is willing to sign in LA. Anyone with a brain would see why that's the case.

Doesn't NECESSARILY mean he wouldn't sign here. Regardless, I'm as concerned personally with getting Dwight Howard--I'd be happy with Howard OR Bynum.
