    He has no cap hold.

The Rockets renounce his rights he is an unrestricted free agent.

The only alternative, if they want to keep a majority of the rookies, is to forget Howard and facilitate a 3 way deal with l.a.....then you give up less and can keep your rookies and maybe a pick.
But screw that I would go for the first place trophy aka d.howard and after I have exhausted all possibilities then bynum would be in order .....

But I honestly feel Howard is the goal ....from a business and Basketball standpoint it is a better option but may not be the best outcome ...

Can you imagine a team of:

    Lin
    Lee
    Parson
    Smith
    Howard

with possibly Asik and whoever we have leftover + FAs signings, not many teams are going to score 70 on us lol

I don't think that is correct. They have not renounced his bird rights yet, which count 5.5627M against the cap. They only rescinded his qualifying offer.

If we end up with a top 8 pick we can use it plus the Toronto pick to land in the top 5.

maybe..except I would be happy if we got the 14th pick with THIS lineup. Because that would mean the Rookies are playing great and unlike in previous 14th pick years, the players on our team pretty much had hit their potential. If we are a 9th seed with a team of 4 prominent rookies (and 2nd year players) then I have high hopes for a great future! Not to mention we'll have high picks (Raptors) AND cap room to go and get a star in free agency. we'd be a team quickly on the rise.

this could be a fasttracked rebuild with the promising young pieces + raptors pick and Les/Morey's desire to find a star. The right 'star' just might not be Dwight Howard, an erractic, irrational man-child who I'm beginning to believe really only wants Brooklyn and would leave Houston regardless (yes I know all the cap arguments, etc) via s&t or just walk away. I work with Russians a lot, and one thing many of them aren't is ethical--i'm being somewhat fascetious but who knows what deals the Nets Russian owner will promise Dwight to make up the difference...there are ways.

In conclusion: 9th seed with this lineup is great. That would be our floor with this team if they can do it in their rookie year.

If the roster stays intact we are headed straight for a top 7 pick + TOR's pick + all the young guys get playing time.

STFU, and quit trying to make everything seem like the end of the world.

Sounds like Les is trying to scare Orlando into thinking the best deal they have received might be lost unless they get their sh%t together and accept

I'm sure this is partially true, but I think there may be a bit of posturing mixed in. About 5 days ago, ESPN had us shipping our entire team out for Howard. At least now, people actually believe we MIGHT NOT trade for Howard.

I would say this summer league has helped out Morey's negotiations tremendously. The value of our 4 rookies just skyrocketed. If we were going to offer 3 of them in the deal before, why wouldn't we offer 2 of them now (those numbers have no backup, I'm just using them as an example).

The only harmful thing that may have come out of the SL is Morris. If he was something Orlando wanted, they might not any more. That said, I haven't seen today's game.

Unfortunately, I'm getting attached to the rookies.

    That!

I think we are going to offer 2-4 combination of young guys and picks + Martin and throw ins (aka Patterson, Morris), and Les is just trying to get the best deal he can get by saying this.

I love it. Give these kids a chance. When is the last time we had a young team with this much potential?

Dragic was not farrrrrrrrr more impressive. Lin won more games. Isn't that what matters?
