Real problem here is that the Magic don't know where what they want and what they can actually get begins and ends.

I think this ends up going all they way to the deadline maybe even beyond.

Dude, we're the #10 market. OKC is #45. Don't equate the two. Besides, OKC had/has better young talent than we do. That's the difference. Lamb, Jones, White, Montejunas, Parsons, etc. are not Durant, Westbrook, and Harden.

First of all, comparing the OKC market to Houston is insulting. This is the fourth-largest city in America and the sixth-largest metro market, now with an incredibly global presence. OKC is the smallest market in the NBA, I believe. Give me a break. Second of all, they didn't sell on their young players early because they had three top 5 picks. Houston, not so much.

As for Orlando dealing with a crappier set of assets, are you really suggesting Morey walk away from the table because Orlando didn't take his first offer? It's a poker game. It's a process and they'll eventually meet in the middle. I'm not suggesting the Rockets make a desperation move, but to give up and tell Hennigan to eff-off because he didn't accept the initial offer in the first two weeks? Come on.

For everyone who complains about Les, I hope the Lin drama going on in NY has reminded them that it could be a whole lot worse.

It's funny how this is all one giant game of poker.

Do you really think it's a coincidence that Lee has all this interest from around the league but hasn't come close to signing with anyone? We're almost 20 days into the free agency period. Martin has to go in any Dwight deal because of the large expiring contract, and Lamb is the top "prospect" for the Rockets, so it would make sense for him to be in any deal.

Lee is good buddies with Dwight and knows the Rockets would have a completely vacant SG position if a deal is completed. I think his willingness to stay on the market is a very calculated move.

Good that Leslie isn't going to overpay for a star and is now willing to go young. Not so goodvthat he's up to one of his old preseason "great teams ever assembled " talk which he last uttered about a team that started Mo Taylor and Kelvin Cato. He falls in and out of love rapidly.

Ya, paying a billion dollars more to re-sign a player you already had and released cuz you didnt want him is a genius "marquee" move.

No rookies seems like Les is going to make Morey adjust the trade to not include the rooks. I would try KM, 1st rounder from Toronto, 2 second rounder picks, Patterson, Morris, hate to put this guy Parsons.

Morey caving in doesn't mean giving up the farm to get Howard, just means Morey has to top the Cav's offer, which won't be very hard or expensive. Morey has a maximum price point on what he wants to give up for either Dwight\Bynum, once the price exceeds it, he'll walk away and move onto plan B.

By NBA standard we're a relatively small market compared to the media capitals of LA, NYK, and Brooklyn. We're not OKC small, true. However we're still not one of those teams that attract free agents based on our market size.

I'm not suggesting Morey tell Orlando to eff off. However if we are shipping away a good number of our rooks, handicapping ourselves with terrible contracts with Dwight who may not even stay, amplified by the fact that our chances of getting Chris in free agency look slim... I'm not for that option.

That being said if the deal is good and we're only taking back a portion of Orl's terrible contracts then yeah. Instant contender is a good option as well.

    Just my two cents.

This argument is really bizarre, and it seems to pop up a lot of places. You do realize that if the Rockets had kept Lin, he was on a one-year contract, correct? So if he got his chance and produced similar to what he did in New York... he'd still have been a restricted free agent and likely ended up with a similar deal to what the Rockets just signed him to. It's not like the Rockets would've had him for $3 mil/year simply because he was on our roster instead of New York's.

Players ceilings and capabilities aren't correlated to their draft positioning. OKC kept them because they were great young promising players. They would have kept their guys even if they weren't top 5 picks.

The percentage of human error, when it comes to drafting and scouting, is to great for you to limit these players ceilings to their draft position.

Hell Daryl said that he thought Royce was a top 5 talent in this past draft, despite Royce falling to the 16th pick.

Thanks for this. This is very insightful. Lin is far more valuable than either Lowry or Dragic to Les. We'll see if it's the right move.

fer sure, but its so obviously an attempt at leverage its certain to achieve nothing more than chuckles in Orlando.
