Based on everything we've seen and heard I think its a safe assumption. Would expect Fortson to be the next to go as well. You see Machado clearly starting to prove that he's the better PG even in Summer league. He still has a ways to go if he wants to make the final roster cut in November, but Machado> Fortson.

"Omeer Asheek" is how I've heard it pronounced by in-game announcers since he came into the league.

Front runners for free agent center Darko Milicic are Miami, Clippers, Chicago and Brooklyn, source tells Y! Sports.

maybe not planning on matching Asik if they are going after Darko ?

Im suprised we havent heard anything yet - maybe they are waiting until after todays summer league game to make a cut? Maybe they are still trying to trade?

Either way, i hope they make a move to clear cap space before my bedtime tonight.

Marc Spears tweeted the Bulls, Clippers, and Heat are all interested in free agent center Darko
    Milicic.

    This can't be understated.

I always thought he'd be a natural to endorse condoms:

"Asik makes sure he wears a sheik."

Asik is good insurance for the Rockets. This is repeating what others have said, but it doesn't hurt to have him. If Howard does leave after this season, we have a veteran defensive presense in the paint. If Howard needs time, post-injury, to work himself back into shape starting the season, we have a very solid veteran 5 helping us to win games until Dwight is ready, and we want to win games. If we don't end up with Howard, Asik is a viable defensive replacement, and young enough to grow with this young team. Should Morey decide Asik "doesn't fit" going forward, just look around the league at what good defensive centers get paid, and you'll see that this is a good contract, easily moved, IMO, although I'm not 100% clear on that 3rd year and its impact.

I don't understand the angst about getting the guy.

edit: forget what I said about Asik being easy to move. Like I said, I'm not clear on just what his offer sheet's going to be, and that it's back loaded. So nevermind!

I believe you would have to wait like 30 days if I am not mistaken.

Why? It does not possibly benefit THEM, as they are already over the cap. The Rockets are the ones who are signing away one of their top young players. The Bulls are not looking to do the Rockets any favors right now, and I don't blame them.

I'm pretty sure the Rockets are trying to work out a small trade where they could possibly get something (maybe a second rounder) for a guy they'd otherwise have to waive for nothing.

Could be an attempt to trade Greg Smith, who would count $381k against the cap if waived, even if the return is nothing.

With Asik having already agreed in principle (to the maximum three-year deal he could possibly get from any team), with the ability to create the necessary cap room to get it done without any trades, and with Dwight Howard not going anywhere as long as the Rockets are willing to beat any better offer that comes along in the meantime, the Rockets are not necessarily in a hurry to get all these moves made.

If Asik becomes a Rocket, then Houston will not be able to trade him until December 15 at the earliest.
