Good on Morey for not blinking through all this. Orlando is going to realize soon enough that his latest offer was his final offer. It will also be the best offer that have.

We already knew Cleveland was on Bynum's list along with Houston. Question is, can they beat the Rockets' offer? I'm not seeing how.

The Cleveland Cavaliers may have inched ahead of the Houston Rockets as a facilitator in a potential trade that would send Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources said Wednesday.
One source familiar with the talks, though, cautioned not to make too much of that shift just yet.

ESPNLA.com's Dave McMenamin talks about the Lakers' ongoing pursuit of Dwight Howard, Andrew Bynum, Kobe Bryant and more.
The Cavaliers would land Lakers center Andrew Bynum for a package of draft picks and veteran power forward Anderson Varejao, according to one league source. The Lakers would receive Howard for Bynum. Orlando would get Varejao and draft picks. The source said this was merely the framework of a deal being discussed.
Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant was in Las Vegas watching summer-league action but made an unplanned return to Cleveland, sources say, and is not expected to return. In the frenzy of anticipating if, when and where Howard might be dealt, such otherwise innocuous events have been enough to inspire massive speculation that a deal is near.
The Lakers have engaged both the Rockets and Cavaliers in their attempt to land Howard, sources say, because those two teams have both interest in acquiring Bynum, and have the requisite salary-cap room to accept larger player salaries than they send out in a deal.
The complicating point for any deal to be completed, sources say, is whether Bynum and Howard agree to extensions with their next team. Sources close to Howard say that as of now, after mistakenly depriving himself of free agency this summer by opting into the final year of his deal with the Magic, he has no intention of doing so again.
ESPNLosAngeles.com reported the Lakers remain committed to pursuing Howard even without assurances he'd sign a long-term extension with the club.
The Rockets have had Howard at the top of their wish list for months and have made moves to pursue him, from collecting first-round picks in the draft to using the amnesty clause on Luis Scola.
Information from ESPNLosAngeles.com's Dave McMenamin and Ramona Shelburne was used in this report.

Well for starters Kevin Martin's expiring contract. That beats the Sideshow Bob looking dude from Cleveland's contract that doesn't end for 2 years.

    Whose the bad contract?

And the thought of only giving up one rookie is one I can live with.

Yep. We've seen Morey do this before to more experienced GM's. Remember The McGrady deal to NY and Walsh?

He might reconsider taking back one more contract or adding one more piece but Morey is not desperate.

Well I read that Lakers are getting tired of Hennigan too. Saying he's asking for way too much. I really don't understand why Lakers have to disassemble their championship core of Gasol, Kobe, Bynum and now Nash. All for Dwights name. Bynum fits their system better and they don't have to adjust the whole team if they're gonna want to be on a championship run this year.

I see Lakers eventually giving up which leaves only Houston. I just hope we give up Morris, Patterson, KMart... I hope we keep all our 3 rookies, DMo, and Parsons... and Machado.

I got attached now. Too late.

Hennigan doesn't want veterans on his team. He wants to bottom out. He only wants young players or expirings. There are posts that confirm this.

I have said this also numerous times...Morey is excellent at getting what he wants via trade...in the end....he will make a move that is sound for the Rockets...One bad contract for One rookie...the bonus that ORL gets is cap space, not a stock pile of picks plus cap space...Daryl will not give up both at once...especially considering that he has made shrewd basketball moves to get him to this very point. Having picks and tons of cap flexibility...

That LA/Cle/Orl deal seems like it sucks for Orlando. They would still be stuck with all those bad contracts. Being able to get rid of 1-3 horrible contracts is a really good thing for them, even if it isn't as sexy as draft picks. I can't help but think they come around to ultimately valuing the shipping out of bad contracts as more important than middling draft picks.

reports say the Lakers don't object to having to take in Richardson, the Cavs would take baby and duhon . Seems like enough dumping to satisfy them. Not sure how many draft pics they would ask for in that trade

Imagine having the entire Rockets organization having to fend off bogus reports and smoke thrown around by the Magic, NY, LA, and the members of the media...I would assume that it could get down right irritating...

bottom line is that Daryl Morey has the most competitive offer for ORL...he did have an even better offer before draft day...Heniggan is trying to replicate the success he had in OKC...but...Henigan doesnt realize that fate is what brought Durant to OKC... Portland swung and missed bad with Oden...if they went the other way...just imagine what OKC would look like now...hind sight is always 20-20...

The chances of Henigan striking on the lottery twice??? Slim to none...Houston is in the driver seat when it comes to picks and space...ORL will have to make a really costly decision...

Don't understand why Orlando isn't just trying to get rid of their bad contracts piece by piece. Trade each one for 2nd round picks or expirings to title contenders. Then just focus on trading Duwight by himself which will cut down on time spent on negotiations.

I beleive they said "Vet" which might imply Martin, or could imply Morris/Patterson.

I am still holding out to the belief that there is a simultaneous trade in place that will bring back another significant piece to pair alongside Dwight, which would involve Martin and another rookie to the third team.

    Rondo, Iggy, Smith, Gasol, etc.
