Impressions: Spoiler After winning by killing Gus, Walt now has a God complex and is a true mafia-style boss. You can see this by his treatment of Saul (you're done when I say you're done), the aftermath of the magnet scene (because I say so), and the 'forgiving' of Skylar. I think we'll see him taking more and more chances and taking an active part in building his own/rebuilding Gus's distro network for the Meth. It will be his downfall, because he's been the guy in the shadows up until now as Heisenberg. Skylar is just as annoying as before, but I found it entertaining how she briefly took on the role of 'Don's wife' after Ted tells her he'll never talk. I really like Hank, but come on...the Feds didn't notice a camera before he gimped into the crime scene? The aftermath of the magnet scene in the evidence room is a very key clue, IMO. The picture of Gus has the Caymans bank info (very out of character for the super secretive Gus, BTW). But I think the bank acct is misdirection. Who is the other person in the picture? Back to rebuilding the meth distro network, I think Mike will be key (see the foreshadowing when he asks for the keys?) to the entire thing. Overall, awesome episode. Wish this show could go on forever.
Spoiler Think the other guy in the photo was Gus's friend who was killed by the drug kingpin when they tried to set thier deal with the cartel. Didn't get a super clear look at it but that's what I thought.
I believe that's correct. I also think the show hinted that Gus and that guy were more than just 'friends'
the dude in the picture was Maximino Arciniega, Gus' 1st partner. They met in Chile & Gus sponsored his education (degrees in engineering & chemistry), they were lovers until Don Salamanca ended Max to put Gus into the cartel's thumb.
http://www.aoltv.com/2011/10/09/gus-fring-giancarlo-esposito-on-breaking-bad/ i dont think that the show ever comes out and says it but giancarlo esposito hints at the possibility of it
I'm not going to spoiler anything because if you aren't caught up to season five you shouldn't be reading this thread anyways. I fully agree with what you are saying about Walt, but its still funny. He thinks he is the ****, but its not as if he has a whole gang of people working for him. Saul could theoretically kick Walt's ass and Walt would not be able to do anything about it.
when Gus & Max are poolside at the Mexican mansion, waiting for their 1st meeting with Don Eladio in the hopes on pitching the meth-lab to the cartel, Don Salamanca & the other capo both reference Gus & Max's sexuality.
Hmmmm I missed that. I thought that there were paralelling the Walt/Jessie relationship Chemist/Businessman Rocket River
Naw, you haven't scene that episode yet perhaps. He's my friend! My partner! I owe everything to him! They were lovers, but it's not the defining aspect of Gus' life...but his partner's death totally motivated the rest of his cold heart calculated revenge seeking path. Before that, Gus was willing to be a low level employee of the cartel.
That's debatable about Saul (it would be like a girl fight IMO), but Mike could absolutely kick his ass (has) and Walt doesn't bat an eye when Mike has a gun pointed at him in the desert. It's not about ability, it's about confidence to be the boss. There are insanely badass soldiers throughout history, but they don't always lead armies as effective generals.
Walt has been using people all series The end of last season he took it to the next level He poisoned a kid He was more than willing to let jessie sacrifice himself If Mike works for Walt It will be very . . . . disappointing to me Unlike Gus . . .who for all his faults. . .seemed to treat people decently Walt is a nasty peice of work. Arrogant, condescending, and a total dick and has been for a while Rocket River
Agreed. Gus had a code, and the show hints at a crime upbringing and training (the cartel is hesitant to hurt him based on who he is). In essence, Gus was a prince who made himself a kingdom in the SW US. On the other hand, Walt is the usurper who has no background in being king. He's going to eff it all up, and it will be great to watch.
The latter I agree with, but the former, well it depends on Mike's motivations. Mike does like money, and he was in a dangerous game even before Walt. And Gus' doctors left Mike in the desert to die...well, he was at best, an afterthought. You need to catch up your episodes fast RR.
I am caught up [season 5 episode 1 - that was the most recent correct] Yet, Gus did have blood there for Mike and even Jessie -hell he had Jessie's whole medical history!! [Jessie being disease free was a surprise LOL] Walt does not seem the type to have either thought that far ahead or really to have given a d*mn about them that much to begin with Rocket River
Whatever Walt gets involved in, its dangerous enough to call for some serious firepower. I don't think he's gonna be building his own drug empire or anything of that sort though. They already did that in the past seasons and it seems too predictable, but with this show you really never know how things will turn out, always playing the guessing game. Walt making such a seamless transition from "Walt of last season" to BAMF seemed kinda weird to me. I can't wait to see Hanks reaction if he ever finds out that Walt is the one behind everything. It should be one of the top 5 moments of the show. Spoiler
Actually. . . you can pretty much predict Walt will somehow getaway clean Last season was the first time it was mainly through his own movements Hank's reaction should be up there with Chitlis's in The Sheild when they arrest his homeboy! Rocket River
Haha exactly, i guess he must have "The Shining", and whatever happened to his Starcraft-like obsession with minerals? DEA agents:"Oh, hi Hank, we can't seem to get this damned TV to turn on. Hank:"Well heres your problem, its been smashed to bits and its not even plugged in. Also its not even a TV, its a toaster." DEA agents: "Ohhhh, now we see why you were promoted to El Paso."
