I voted yes. I feel quite sure he will receive enough votes to be an all star with his Asian connection. I hope he does well enough to earn it. I think he will.

I think he'll put good numbers because he'll be on the floor most of the time. When your on the floor most of the time, stats accumulate. He'll get the vote no doubt based on popularity.

He could put up 10 pts and 6 asts per game and the asian vote will make him a starter in the all star game.

yes. But first he must renounce his u.s citizenship or opt for dual citizenship in glorious motherland of china. Then, he must scrimmage for yao's chinese team. Lex and yao can make both of these things happen.

Lin gets into the all star game averaging. 18 points/7asst/4rbds/3.8 turnovers.

Didn't Yao get voted in even though he only played 5 games? in short, yes, he will be voted into the All-Star game.

He has the ability to be a perennial all-star as long as he is a starting point guard in the NBA and putting up decent enough numbers to remain a starting point guard. From a social science perspective, the recent Chinese generation has an affinity for Western culture, its become their idea of the quintessential lifestyle. It doesn't matter that he is Taiwanese. As long as he is Asian-American (with family origins somewhere in the country of Asia) it allows them to form a relationship to Western culture, which is globally characterized by things such as sports.

It will be interesting to see how Lin's value will fluctuate if he makes the all-star squad the next two years, but only puts up mediocre numbers. Did Morey factor that possibility into this gamble? If you try to shop him in two years, can you really find leverage in telling opposing management, "Well he only put up 14ppg and 7apg, but he's a two-time all-star."
