Lol, didn't realize the season started yet. Wait, it hasn't? Are you from the future? Can I get the winning lottery numbers? Yes, Lin is a role player... Who has the potential to be an 18 and 7 guy as a starter.
yeah, I can't believe people were going crazy because we couldn't get the #5 pick. hell, we got 3 #5 picks where we picked at.
That's cute. I guess the ClutchFans Knee Jerk of the Week(tm) is to overrate the rookies. Can't wait for the Dwightmare to end and restore some sanity.
I know right, lol. A couple weeks ago I made a thread about getting best players in free agency and draft. I highly doubt that for the same money anyone thinks lin is a better player than dragic or even lowry. So once again, the rockets are in that spot. Thi time hopefully the play it out and stop chasing waterfalls. This team will be bad,but at least we might get to see some young guys.
I don't understand the desperation for an all star center. I mean having an all star center would be nice but I much rather have a all star SG, SF, or PG... When was the last time a all star center lead his team to the championship not name Duncan? Centers are great to have but in the NBA today, guards and SF runs the league. You need a superstar that can create for himself and others to win big in the playoffs. If you have an all star center, other players would just denied him the ball in the post which would make it hard for them. Dwight Howard is the best center in the league and his defensive presence is one of the best but he isn't going to lead this team to the promise land in just one season. Even with Lin now, its not enough to keep Howard here. With Howard, the Rockets won't be a mediocre team the next season but its only for one season. After he leaves, the Rockets would be back to ground zero. Unless we can get another superstar to come but that's highly impossible. The Rockets won't have anything left to trade for another star. Unless they can try to convince Paul to come play with Howard and maybe that can make Howard stay. But right now, it's highly risky for the Rockets. Just wait until the Magic are desperate enough so the Rockets can trade Martin, Parson, Morris, White or Jones (Not Lamb)... They should keep Lamb because I much rather him start than a Richardson. If its for Andrew Bynum, they should give up much less than that, hopefully just Martin, Morris and our draft picks.

This is the sad thing about message boards. Any time someone dares to criticize "your" team's direction, you get absurd responses like "why the hell you posting here?? Get out!"
Lin was a bad signing. If we get Dwight, we will have traded away all of this talent we've seen during the summer league games and he will leave the next year with us saddled with bad contracts in Lin, J. Rich, and Big Baby. If we don't get Dwight, then this summer will have been salvaged by J. Lamb dropping to 12 and Motiejunas showing that his talent translates to the NBA so far. Basically, at this point, Morey needs to be saved from himself and then we'll be in a decent position for a couple top 10 picks next year and a couple young guys who can be really good.
I would only trade for Howard or Bynum if the Rockets were able to keep Lamb, White, DMo, and Parsons. Love TJones, but him, Morris, Patterson, Martin, and multiple picks should be the only ones traded.
Doesn't our pick still go to Atlanta (via the Nets)? So it doesn't matter how bad we are. In fact, I would say we don't want to be very bad. And the rookies may not be superstars, but they can be high quality NBA players who have the potential to play above their salaries. A championship team needs those kinds of players. Whether they stay with us or are go somewhere in a trade, teams value that type of player. So if no other moves are made, the team goes into the year looking like this: SF Parsons/White/Morris PF Patterson/Motie/Jones C Asik/Harrellson/Jordan SG Martin/Lamb/Zoran PG Lin/Douglas/Fortson That may not be a champion, but it will be a good team despite giving lots of playing time to youngsters. And how young this team just got is another bonus. Next Summer they would have 1st round picks from Dallas and Toronto in addition to only having roughly $26M in payroll committed. So, while a lot of fans have ben frustrated that the team has been spinning its wheels in pursuit of a superstar, it appears to have finally paid off. While all of the above could be parlayed into a superstar (or two) over the next year, if it doesn't happen it's not the end of the world. The Rockets have two paths they could take and appear set up perfectly to travel either one. I would say that the team definitely looks good going forward.
Only idiots were in desperation, the patient ones know that the end game is nowhere near what we had a week ago.
No. It's lottery protected. It only goes to Atlanta if we're in the playoffs. We have had tons of players like that over the past few years. It's not working to get us into the playoffs, let alone championship contention. It's time to trade our assets and get a superstar. If he leaves, we can truly rebuild.
What feels different about this group of rookies is the ceiling. D-Mo and Lamb have very obvious star potential, not saying they will be, but all of of our past rooks felt like good starters at best. Even Jones and White look to have fairly high ceiling, not as high as Lamb and D-Mo. And despite what espn so desperately wants, we are clearly in the drivers seat for Howard, And once he gets here, i think he stays here.
Then that's where we disagree. Apaprently you think players like Flynn, Thabeet, Budinger, etc. are the same as the players we have now. I don't see it that way. And there always seemed to be a patchwork mentality to the team after Yao. There are no more Battiers and Scolas propping the team up and blocking the younger players. Now they have to go forward with young players if they don't make a trade. I wasn't saying that they shouldn't pursue a superstar, but I don't think they have to panic and overpay. And I don't think they will. I think they have a very good foundation in place for whatever they want to do. And you can't have it both ways. You appear to be saying that the players we have in place are good enough to get us a crappy draft pick and good enough to trade for a superstar, but not good enough for the Rockrets to start rebuilding with. If they aren't good enough for the Rockets to rebuild with, why would a team want to give up it's superstar for them?
