With all this hoopla about how great our rookies look from the draft this might be the best time to trade them. Guys like Lamb putting in 20 a game in the summer league and royce white dropping dimes is fine and dandy but at this point none of these players will ever amount to the impact of a howard or bynum. I know Rockets fans love their rookies and want to latch on to them but I am not one of those fans. I am "all in" for attaining a proven commodity that can make an immediate impact on this team. An impact player that we can now team up with Lin and have enough salary cap room to add another impact player next off season. This is probably the more prudent approach to take then rely on draft picks. Draft picks are never guaranteed. Some even have nice rookie seasons, take tyreke evans for example. People thought he was the next coming of dwayne wade and look at how he has played since. I understand that our youngs have done well in vegas but when november rolls around and the real players are out their playing defense you think lamb will be scoring this easily? You think D-Mo will be faking out guys like chandler and ibaka? Well in any case this probably isn't the best time to bring up trading the players that this forum is falling in love with but sometimes the minority opinion is the right opinion. Sell high my friends........sell high.
how about NO. We could move 2 of them but not all. I'm down for keeping them all and go young and let the all progress together.
This will be quite the unpopular thread. I think teams FO's will not be quick to buy on players that have had good summer league showings. This hype is more media and fan oriented. The magic might have a preference based on this trade. Outside of the Magic I cant see anyone really wanting to give us anything significant for for players with only 5 games against a bunch of D-league talent.
Trust me I already knew that as i was writing this. I'm not here to appease the fan base...just like talking basketball and giving my 2 cents on things even if i am in the minority. Also agree that GMs in the league and other management do not put to much stock into summer league games like the fans do.
I agree actually. I wouldn't want to trade ALL of them, but I would be totally onboard with trading 2 out of our Big Five youngs (Parsons, Motiejunas, Lamb, White, Jones)... and I wouldn't be distraught over losing three of them.
Ive said this in some other posts, I think any successful deal for Dwight will probably include Parsons, and Lamb. They have the potential that a rebuilding team will want in return for an elite player. Ive really enjoyed watching these young guys. I wouldn't mind us staying the course with them but I'm with you in that a deal for Dwight would be whats best, even if it costs us young talent.
We are going to lose three rookies? I assume any deal will also involve our draft picks so three rookies would be a robbery IMO. The way this team is shaping up, I wouldn't mind just letting it ride. Rookies get royally screwed in the NBA, but if we get Asik this will be a very entertaining team. Will be fun to see who wins the battle for minutes.
It's not the same depending on positions If you lose two PFs no real loss because we have a plethora of them but if we lose the only SG next to Martin... that is different Motiejunas and Parsons - very good size..... and skilled Jones, White, Lamb - ok size and very skilled
The way Morey sees it, and I agree, is that the likelihood of Dwight staying is higher than any of the rookies becoming something special. This whole thing has been about getting a superstar. In trading for Dwight, you know you're getting one and hoping he'll stay. In drawing a line in the sand with the rookies, you know they'll be here for awhile and you're hoping they become players you can build around which in all likelihood won't happen. Despite what's been thrown around on this board, Dwight has not said anything about not wanting to be here or not re-signing. All he's said is that he wanted to go to Brooklyn and that's the only team he'd be willing to sign an extension with right now. That's it. But now that Brooklyn is off the table, now and next year, Dwight has to go somewhere and whatever team trades for him is going to have an advantage when it comes to offering him money. The odds of Dwight re-signing with the Rockets are greater than many posters here think.
Were you actually following that? I was..... and he was one heck of a scorer. But as I said it is rare to have four, five rookies play so well at the same time.
First of all, no Howard trade will be made until after the Asik situation gets settled so we can figure out how many contracts we can take back from Orlando. Summer League play will be over by then. Motiejunas can't be traded til next month. Unlikely that the rookies will gain or lose much trade value between SL and pre-season, so there might not be too much to gain by rushing a trade. If anything, the longer the Howard situation drags out, the lower his trade value. Orlando is getting more and more desperate by the day. They don't want to go into next season with their disgruntled star on the roster, and still haven't even found a coach. What coach wants to inherit that disaster?
I don't think we should be readily trying to give up Lamb or D-Mo. Just how I feel. In the Cleveland deal you didn't see them giving up Kyrie do you? Lamb in my mind is and was a top 5 pick. I don't give a ____ about his slender frame, 'high' demeanor, just watching SL games he's looking quite clearly the best SG out of the bunch.
No. I think that's something Orlando had demanded in an attempt to gain the upper hand but Morey refused. Either 1 or 2 will go if a trade goes down, Lamb likely being one of them, but probably not all 3.
I thought about this the other day... But I honestly can't help but feel like this kid mightve been something special if he'd stayed with us... Sac Town is barely developing Cousins and is officially clueless on Tyreke... The current staff is extremely poor in this category...
Lamb isn't even CLOSE to the same caliber of talent as Kyrie Irving. Difference in value between a number one pick and a number five pick is huge, and Lamb is not a number five pick type talent. He's a #10 pick type talent. Same goes for Motiejunas, who is a slightly better talent than Lamb.
