I keep seeing statements about Lin being in the all star game. Please be real. He's not beating Westbrook, Parker, Nash and Paul to the allstar game. This is a pipe dream and you will be sorely disappointed if you are expecting this.
Lowry almost did and he didn't near the success Lin has with the team we got him from. You never know.
People aren't talking about him having the stats to beat those guys, they are referring to the asian fan vote.
I hope I'm wrong but I'm smelling Matt Maloney (Act 2) with this signing. Melo said it best when he stated rockets are offering ridiculous contract. Bottom line is if the rockets don't get Howard, they will be in the lottery again and have an excellent shot at the #1 overall pick. Lin may be sorry he made this move.
I was checking the knick's forum and their fans seem to think that with their current roster, they could contend. One of the posters even said only LeBron and Melo could go 1 on 5.
The starters are voted on by the fans...I hope you know enough about the NBA to know that little fact. The Asian vote can definitely get him into the starting line up of the All Star game.
not so quick. Yi Jianlian ranked 3rd in all star votes when he was with the Nets a few years back. Yeah, who? He wasn't nearly the player Lin is.
8.3 against the cap for 3 years. Not too bad as far as length of contract. If he's nowhere near worth 8.3 million a year, we only endure it for a couple of more years. Not Maloney-like. Look at it more like we won't have Courtney Fortson starting at PG to start the season
I definitely know about the Asian votes and that you guys are counting on this. BUT at the same time, I can't see David Stern allowing this. I can just imagine the backlash if Lin starts over Westbrook and Chris Paul.
Yi Jianlian got 3rd in votes one year, true, but so did Bruce Bowen. Now I wouldn't be surprised if Lin got close to 3rd or 4th in the votes, but I still think Chris Paul or Steve Nash also get close. Kobe Bryant will get it no matter what, but since Nash is a Laker, he too will get some worldwide votes since he's a Laker.
Why wouldnt he allow it? Guys have been voted on MANY times before who didnt deserve it, so why would he suddenly step in now? The All Star game is nothing more then a popularity contest. Some of you guys are so over dramatic.....
Just like Lakers fans, Knicks fans are always on the extremes...love or hate. Lakers fans were slobbering over Ramon Sessions, the same way they were talking a lot of nonsense when Lin first got there, blew up during Linsanity, and now some of them are calling him out for being overrated, overpaid, and being a snake/greedy.
Here were the official numbers when Yi and Bowen placed 3rd: http://www.nba.com/2009/allstar2009/01/ ... index.html Forwards Player Votes Tim Duncan (SA) 2,578,168 Amare Stoudemire (Pho) 1,460,429 Bruce Bowen (SA) 1,392,398 Forwards Player Votes LeBron James (Clev) 2,940,823 Kevin Garnett (Bos) 2,066,833 Yi Jianlian (NJ) 1,813,829 Like I said, I wouldn't be shocked if Lin gets a lot of votes but Chinese fans aren't and haven't been the only ones rooting for questionable players. I still think Steve Nash, especially if he plays well, will get a lot of attention in LA.Chris Paul too since he's playing with Blake Griffin, and Griffin dunks always are part of the highlight reel.
After reading the comments here, I'm actually starting to feel bad for (some) Knicks fans. Damn. http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2012/7/17/3166269/its-official-jeremy-lin-is-a-rocket#comments
It's crazy how big Yao is. Too late! If you look at Lin's facebook page, there are some really disgusting comments on there.
