    only weeks ago, this board was filled with desperation, people were yelling "fire Morey", because
    1. we seemingly without a starting PG after letting 2 good PGs go;
    2. we were lost in the Howard trade rumor with Howard stating not want to be anywhere near Houston;
    3. we had a roster full of rookies and PFs.

    Now with Linsanity in the town, we are:
    1. got 2 capable PGs in Lin and Douglas;
    2. we seemingly in the leading position to land Howard;
    3. our young guys look terrific in the summer league.

    so do you think we are now in a good position going forward? and do you still trust Morey can deliver Houston a quality team for years to come?

    getting there..

    atleast we have a marketable "star" now to lure in free agents, or, ahem, keep them..

    I think we're in a good position to land Howard or Bynum, and in a decent position to rebuild if we end up going that route. I'm less in favor of rebuilding because I think we will be TRULY mediocre if we don't pull off The Trade, but it could work if we somehow strike gold on one of the rooks and/or the Toronto pick manages to be really good.

    tl;dr I'm not comfortable until we land an all-star center. Once we do I'll feel fantastic, until then we're just continuing to do OK.

    This is one of those rare moments where a lot of positive knee-jerking is going to occur for a while.

    My worry is we still won't be bad enough to get a really high draft pick and I doubt any of our rooks pan out to be superstars. (Maybe one of them becomes an all star but that's not good enough is it?).

    In other words I'm not sold that "Keep the rooks" gets us off the mediocrity treadmill people have been b****ing about.

    I worry that it just mires us further into mediocrity, where we don't even have the hope of the playoffs to look forward to and will just hover around #10 instead of #14.

    If we trade multiple assets for Howard and he walks then we are DEFINITELY off the treadmill. If we trade multiple assets for Howard and he stays, we could be championship contenders as soon as this very season depending on how Lin turns out.

    I also wouldn't mind rebuilding around a Lin/Bynum core, I think there's potential there that between those two and our rooks we could end up with 3 all stars and that might be enough to contend.

    This, and I'm only willing to go that far. We're still pretty awful.

    If we landing Howard, and can keep him;
    If Linsanity can still deliver the same excitement;
    If we can get Harden next summer by giving him a max contract;
    If we can get a Jerry Sloan/D'Antonie to be our next coach, and bring a pick&roll game into Howard/Lin combo

    wishful think, ye?

    I would say yeah if we can somehow land Bynum without having to give up much of the developing , promising young talent.... if not ..we will have 1 , and a lesser 2 but no 3

    This team still sucks. Lin is a role player.

    Lin has god chemistry with Jerome Jordan, they were in the D-League together.

    Wonder if he will be kept?

    "There MOREY stood in the doorway;
    FANS heard the mission bell
    And I was thinking to myself,
    "This could be Heaven or this could be Hell"
    Then he lit up a candle and he showed me the way
    There were voices down the corridor,
    I thought I heard them say...
    Welcome to the Hotal Rocket-Drama . . . "
