I just don't know. howard is without a doubt, the best center in the league, bynum is the 2nd best. both have had bad injuries. dwight has a bigger impact. bynum is younger and still has potential. we still don't know how dwight will be post back surgery. i'm going with whichever guy will be ready to suit up opening day, so, i'll take bynum.

Howard is better but we'd probably have to give up less to get Bynum. I'd be happy with either.

This. It shouldn't be 'Bynum vs Dwight' straight up. It should be Bynum and whatever players we get to keep vs Dwight and the players we lose.

Found this on some Laker board:

Andrew Bynum (Los Angeles Lakers) vs Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)

    8 games............................................. .......10 games (Howard +2 games)
    17.1 PPG............................................... ....18.0 PPG (Howard +0.9 PPG)
    13.9 RPG............................................... ... 14.4 RPG (Howard +0.5 RPG)
    2.1 BPG............................................... ..... 2.2 BPG (Howard +0.1 BPG)
    0.8 APG............................................... ..... 2.2 APG (Howard +1.4 APG)
    0.6 SPG............................................... ..... 1.3 SPG (Howard +0.7 SPG)
    51.4 FG%............................................... ... 58.8 FG% (Howard +7.4 FG%)
    55.8 FT%............................................... .... 42.6 FT% (Bynum + 13.2 FT%)
    34.3 MPG............................................... ... 37.2 MPG (Howard +2.9 MPG)

    6.8 FGM / 13.1 FGA .....................................7.0 FGM / 11.9 FGA
    3.6 FTM / 6.5 FTA ........................................4.0 FTM / 9.4 FTA

Bynum held his own against Howard while sharing the ball with Kobe Bryant. If you're gonna argue in favor of Howard, then you're gonna have to argue about intangibles. Of course, Bynum has missed a lot of PT, but back surgery is not that small a matter.

I cant believe people voted for Bynum. You guys do realize Bynum's production and efficiency took a nose dive from the regular season to the playoffs right? It got even worse in the OKC series. Shooting 43%, Grabbing 9 rebounds playing 38 minutes and laughable P & R Defense. He is someone that teams games plans to attack his weakness through the game, not a mobile fella at all

Same thought. Bynum would be ready opening day and more willing to stay long term. I saw rumors of Dwight not being game-ready for a few months into the season. Bynum would get a nice lengthy deal to learn and mature with Lin (pick and roll? :) ) and the young bucks.

    So what, small sample size.

Again, I'm not saying I prefer Bynum, I just think you argument stinks.

11 time NBA hall of fame coach agrees with me. The larger his role got the worse the team became. Bynum's success came at the expense of the team's success

That's not even what he said, he said it distorted the team dynamic and took Pau out of his game. He also said "Andrew is an all-star center and he's done a wonderful job".

and after saying that he said BUT...it took Pau out of his game and it disjointed the team and took them away from what they're really about. Phil likes to talk cryptically, its not that hard to see he basically said Bynum's success came at the teams expense. Later in the video he says they will do well but as far as success goes its another story

He got more shots off with the Lakers than Dwight did with the Magic. And made less.

    Dwight. No question.

What I heard Phil communicate was that it was the SYSTEM that took Pau out of his game. It ain't Bynum's fault the GM and coach wanted him to play a larger role, and he's still WAY second fiddle to Kobe.

Theres no question that Dwight is the better defensive player but people think Bynum is a better offensive player which is completely false, Dwight draws more free throws attempts and..

    https://twitter.com/erivera7/status/220206630309085187

The only thing Bynum has on Dwight is Free throw% but he goes to the line barely half the times that Dwight does

The system was designed to feature Bynum more. That was the problem. Gasol is the better of the two post players. Gasol is a better post scorer than Bynum. Gasol is a better play maker in the post than Bynum. Jim Buss had to feature Bynum because thats his pet project that he drafted 7 years. They featured him to appease the owner and it failed miserably

So you're okay with Bynum.......you just don't want us to get Jim Buss, right.....

Bynum is a good player but not for the cost he comes with, way too many weaknesses in his game that is covered up in LA with most of the attention drawn away from him. Dwight is on his way to the HOF hes the guy any team should prefer

Im suprised Bynum even averaged what he did with Kobe shotjacking every night. I mean jesus will Kobe ever get it through his head

The Lakers could have beat the Thunder if they used their size, Kobe tried to go mono-e-mono with KD in 2 of those games and lost them that series

Kobe should be going for 42 at this stage in his career, this guy isnt even close to MJ

You give MJ that roster and MJ with his smart BBiq will win rings
