Wonder if it's Necrotizing fasciitis... that's the only flesh eating disease I know of.

I remember reading that people who are sick get it in most cases. But, I think it is also found in stagnant lakes and ponds and you get it if it manages to get into your blood stream via a cut or something. Scary ****.

I know some girl has/had it recently. They had to amputate pretty much every limb. Just kill me if that happens.

How long after you're infected do you get symptoms, or die?

Depends on the bug, there are a handful of bacteria/virus/ etc that can cause what the kid got.

This sounds more like septic shock..........flesh eating bugs are fast, but not that fast.

Havent read the article but im pretty sure septic shock doesn't cause flesh eating.

That's why I read the article........and watched the video. Although someone in the boy's family mentioned flesh eating bacteria, there was no mention of any actual flesh eating. Just a rash. Quickly followed by vomiting, then unresponsiveness, then death (appantly just a few hours after the first symptoms of the rash appeared).

Really? That's how you want to treat a little boy's death?

    Necrotizing fasciitis is rare.

Streptococcus is common, but it rarely causes the former.
