I don't need to act like I should be an NBA GM in order to argue with you on something, but if it makes you feel better about yourself then go with it.

If Dwight leaves, we'll be in the same position we are now, except we'll probably be in a position to get even better draft picks, and therefore, hopefully get lucky enough to draft a good player. Either way it's a risk worth going for because out of the last 7 years of drafts I just posted, Dwight is more valuable than most of those players. Not to mention, you'd have to get a really high pick to even have a sliver of a chance of drafting a player that will be a superstar.

I agree, and at least Duhon fills a need.

    I could be good with:

    KMart
    White or Jones
    Morris
    Toronto 1st
    Rights to Lull

    for

    Bynum
    Duhon

    Lin / Duhon
    Lamb / ??
    Parsons / White
    Patterson / DMo
    Bynum / Jordon

That would be a fun group to watch.

If we could get Courtney Lee that would be nice

perhaps Dwight's plan is to undersell himself by telling the media he wont resign anywhere, except Brooklyn, so the team he does get traded to doesn't sell the farm for him.

This gives every team other than Orlando the leverage with the thought that Dwight will not re-sign anywhere. If Dwight says, "yes, trade me to Houston and i'll extend my contract with them"... well guess what happens then... Orlando asks for basically our entire roster in exchange for their entire garbage roster.

With the media and Orlando believing Dwight will not re-sign works in our favor in the sense where we won't have to give up as much to get him.

Again... if he gets traded here and he re-signs, we're closer to being contenders. If he gets traded here and he bolts, who cares... we begin rebuilding via SnT. If he doesn't get traded here, we begin rebuilding sooner and play the young'ns! This is a WIN-WIN for the Rockets no matter how you look at it.

What's so funny is that most of these *NEW* Dwight Howard reports are all coming from Orlando.

Rob Hennigan trying to drive the price up for D12 again.

Pretty much. If Howard does leave, it puts the Rockets in the "Get a star in draft" situation that Houst0ne is arguing for.

The timing is pretty telling too. Today is the day we have a resolution to the Lin saga, and he knows the talks with the Rockets will pick up again shortly.

Morey is not willing to get smacked around by the Orlando GM. Orlando needs to make the deal, the Rockets don't!!!

Rockets are sitting in a good spot. They have 3 rookies (Lamb, Jones, and Motiejunas) who have excelled in summer league. Granted it is Summer League ball and not NBA, it demonstrates they are following the game plan.

With Martin coming off the books next season, the Rockets will be in good position to offer a Max contract to someone.

Lamb, Motiejunas, Jones, White, Patterson, Morris, (if Lin does not get matched), (if Asik does not get matched), Parson --- all of those contracts are guaranteed to be reasonable for the next 2 seasons. So there is money to throw out to a max level player.

Who'd of thought that Parson stands to be the veteran leader when play start in training camp.

Interesting take. A for effort, but Im pretty sure "Magic Insiders" would not play along with this with an agenda to not help out their local team rebuild post-Howard.

Thought I'd post again to vent my frustrations.

Rockets work on a deal for Dwight? Virtually an afterthought. You MIGHT get some tweets from random bloggers/well-known media guys.

Lakers meeting with Orlando to work on trade?

    DEVELOPING STORY ON ESPN

DWIGHT HOWARD COULD BE A LAKER SOON.

I hope this is is just another giant, obnoxious smokescreen, but I have a feeling at some point it's going to bite us hard in the ass.

First off- Thanks for not creating a new thread.

The reason why its such an obnoxious smokescreen is because it hits a much, much larger media market and gets their website more clicks than the Rockets do. I have yet to see another offer out there that beats what the Rockets have to offer. Until we see that just toke it up to a smokescreen.

I don't know about the dynamics of the relationship between Orlando's different media outlets, but this is hilarious...

    david pingalore ‏@pinglocal6
http://es.pn/NvQ5Ki from my interview. I have heard though multiple people with direct knowledge of @DwightHoward it is heating up

    and in response...

    Brian K. Schmitz ‏@MagicInsider
@pinglocal6 @DwightHoward And Abe Lincoln hunted vampires.

Hilarious. Seems even other Orlando media guys think this Pingalore is a clown.

The Asik, Lin contracts will not impact talks with Magic, per source. Talks on trade for Dwight Howard have taken those deals into account.

    Chris Mannix @ChrisMannixSI
On Houston/Howard: Been told reports that Rockets will just absorb all of the Magic's bad contracts are ridiculous.

    Jonathan Feigen @Jonathan_Feigen
One more thing on Rockets-Magic talks; they've been ongoing all week. LA-Magic talks also not new, but would involve Rockets as 3rd team.
