I am looking to get a new router, what is the best router for under 150? Is dual band much better than one band? Have about 7 devices that will use the wireless router. I want a router with strong signals wide range and reliable (no short break in signals periodically)
My friend was trying to explain to me the concept of dual band the other day but it was to technical for me to grasp everything. I can say that you are better off getting a dual band router than one that only has one band. Point being is since you have 7 devices that will be using Wi-Fi, not all will get their signal from one band. It will be split into two bands with the same output I believe. Someone please correct me if I'm off.
I understand how dual band works you have two different frequencies on which to operate the router, so you can split 3 on one and 4 on the other for example. Now that I think about it, it will definitely be better for me to get a dual band. Which one? Cisco, Net Gear, Linksys? Which model?
Try scouring craigslist before you pay retail, I was able to snag a brand new Netgear N750 (WNDR4000) for $40. Pretty good router, dual band.

Otherwise it doesn't really help with range or anything like that.
