It's strategy. Each team is in competition against every other team in the entire NBA. If one puts out an offer on a RFA then the "home" team so to say will wait to the very last second to announch a match or not. The concept is that you tie up that teams cap for as long as possible to keep them from making other moves while other teams can swoop in and take what they were possibly looking at.

Actually...the fact that ESPN is remaining so quiet is a good sign.

If the Knicks arent going to match, then they want to keep this as low key as possible. Which is exactly whats going on with them.

If they had any inkling that the Knicks would match, their homepage would read "Lincision coming tonight!".

    Thanks, Cat.

I've read this angle a few times in the past couple of days from different sources. Why in the hell are people, even here, ignoring this? Obviously money is NOT an issue with Dolan, but this could be a HUGE factor starting next year.

it wont be announced for another 12 hours, surely that's enough time to get some sleep before then.

Only if you mean ripping out his vocal chords when you typed "prove Stephen A. Smith wrong".

well, technically its not being ignored since I brought up the non-financial side of this back on page 41, but yeah seems like some folks have ignored the fact that this isnt just financial....if it was, I have no doubt they woudl match. The player movement and salary restrictions would be a killer tho, adn that is the part that gives hope that maybe they wont match.

That segment we were texting about Sunday had me boiling. I can honestly say he's one of the only people I'd meet that I wouldn't be very respectful towards. I wish I could boycott ESPN for continuing to air his garbage.

Most of the teams that have matched offer sheets of their restricted players, did they all wait til the last few hours before they announced they've matched em?

Like when the Hornets matched Eric Gordon's phoenix offer sheet, did they wait til the last day/hours?

Yes. The Knicks took up until the deadline to decline Landry Fields.

I wish yahoosports had their own channel on TV. They're much more trustworthy.

yeah, I caught your post and was refering to it as one of the other sources (sorry about not mentioning you directly).

I'm just surprise that people everywhere seems to go on and on about money, personalities, etc., while the most important fact for any team is flexibility (see DM). NY would be idiots (could've stretched my four letter vocabulary here) to not consider this formostly (inventing words).

In other news, ESPN is considering airing a one-hour special "Lindecision" tonight.

If they're gonna make a big deal about announcing I their decision, I think they're matching. If they weren't I think they'd just inform the Rockets and Lin, and let them handle it.

They use NBC Sports Network. Woj is on there sometimes. Too bad he's on vacation right now.
