So then why say "both equates"? How do you get "multiplies" from that? :p Now I'm the buffoon, because I know math.

So... .0004 is better than .02? I don't get it.

Obviously you are r****ded, but I'll try and speak in jibberish so you understand.

When two people have sex, they can make a baby. To prevent this you can use protection. Condoms work 98% of the time. Birth control pills work 98% of the time. This means that both fail 2% of the time. Using both means that if one fails, the other one kicks in, meaning BOTH would have to fail. I've already explained the 5th grade math it requires to come up with the percentage that BOTH failing would be.

I suggest you go read this.

yes, a .0004 chance of birth control failure is better than a .02 chance of birth control failure if you do not want to conceive, you failure

So is it MULTIPLICATION or ADDITION? Please help me. This is bothering me sooOooOooOoooo much, but I like that you're trying to explain it. This shows your kindness.

Also, how does "effective" change to "accuracy" in your first post? Please help me, you're my only hope!

Actually in Swoly's defense, 98% multiplied by 98% equals 96% according to Google calculator

Your statement is right. That's not what Rasputin12 said. Check it:

    99.96% is .9996
    98% is .98

You say "using both", so... ADDITION, right?

    .98 + .98 = ??? Please don't tell me .9996 LOL!

OR try MULTIPLICATION, maybe? I'll give you a "chance", you DO know "chance", right?

    .98 x .98 = ??? What do you get?

Actually, using "BOTH" in a probability question means multiplication.

    P(A ∩ B) = P(A) P(B|A)

RedNation, I'm losing respect for you, man :p . You're saying that if you tell someone: "You have 10 red apples and Jack has 10 green apples. How many chances of a green apple do you both have?" they'll answer 100 and be right? LOL!

Even if he used "multiplication" in "both" (which is not true), he has the product incorrectly from the two factors.
he does?!?!?!? Really? What grade are you in, man, 6th?

A trying to get laid thread turning into a math thread? Sounds like a bad 'Bad Luck Brian' meme.

Hmmmm... I'm too stupid to figure out that, what, .98 plus (or TIMES) .98 is... what you say (.96)?

    Nice editing.

    .98 x .98 = .9604

    1 - .9604 = .0396% chance of failing.

I suck at math by the way. :p

EDIT:Oh, looked at the question wrong.
    My bad.

    .02 x .02 = .0004 chance of failing.

Is she not? They have been dating since sophomore year. And all they have done is hold hands and kiss (not occasionally).

What kind of **** is that?
