If the Knicks don't match, I will actually strongly suspect that it's because Melo wants Lin out of New York and has been very vocal about it with their front office. I could see that being a tipping point for them. Basketball-wise, they see Melo as their franchise player and I'm sure the sole untouchable they have. Right or wrong that's where they are at. If he doesn't like Lin and wants him gone they have to seriously consider the effect on team chemistry.
You know what's ridiculous? Melo acting like a little punk to get out of Denver. Melo having the worst playoff record of anyone in NBA history. Melo being jealous of a guy who is making 5m for the next two years. Melo getting past the first round once. Melo being a whiny punk who gets his way to goto NY and then promptly gets the coach fired the next season. Melo getting mad that he can't be the black hole on offense he's always been despite never winning that way...
Good, I hope they cater to Melo's needs. Because if every player they bring in has to play second fiddle next to Melo, then they will never ever even sniff conference finals.
If I was Morey, I'd just find a way to acquire all the Knicks picks for the next decade as long as Dolan is the owner
Everybody outside of clutch knows we overpaid for a backup PG. Now does that make Melo a troll or guy with common basketball knowledge
https://twitter.com/rodboone Rod Boone @rodboone I cover the Brooklyn Nets for Newsday. It's been 35 years in the making. Chronicled Jets from '09-12. And before you ask, no I didn't play basketball in college

You genius' realize he said this Friday or Saturday and this has been beat to death in the other 32 Lin threads. He doesn't hate Lin. He was the one that asked D'Antoni to put him in int the first place. He thinks the Rockets are rediculois in there offer to do that to the Knicks and is glad Jeremy is getting paid. Now, can somebody lock this thread or merge it with the other Lin threads as it is not news worthy and certainly not Thread worthy!!!!
Not only has this been mentioned in previous thread... But its also been misinterpreted by 98% of America.
this contract is clearly overpriced. but i would like to see Lin playing for HOU next season rather than Fortson
This thread is more than rediculous. It's readickyouless! But really, you just KNOW Melo was bent out of shape last year that the city of NY gave Lin the attention and the love that Melo that HE was going to get when he agreed to play there and deliver them to the promised land. Then Lin comes along out of nowhere and becomes the city's darling. Melo must have had smoke coming out of his ears during Lin's first 10 games as a starter.
I honestly think Melo meant that the way the contract works is ridiculous. In terms of how the knicks would have a 15 million dollar cap hit in year 3 and the Rockets would not.
