http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2012/07/antawn-jamison-chooses-lakers-over-bobcats.html so they have bynum gasol artest/jamison kobe nash ?? lots of points. Defense?hmm... listening to LA radio today they were trying to talk themselves into the idea of howard not coming and having nash being enough to get to finals. Not sure I think nash will be a help but I still think kobe is a ball hog. kobe will have problems playing off ball and ultimately kobe is not a team player. It will be interesting to see if he can play in the flow of what nash gives. Kobe could thrive under nash if he took his ego out of the equation. kobe will show his true chump character and it will be interesting to see it implode. Well assuming kobe is kobe.
I mean even without the ball in his hands nash can kill with LA. Did you see how many open 3's derek fisher had and couldn't hit? Do you think they can double Kobe now? Nash and Artest open for 3's or Pau and Bynum open down low? Fisher and sessions were never a threat, Nash is enough for a threat so now Kobe gets single coverage and will dominate one on one even at 34
I disagree. I think Kobe has been waiting to play alongside a player like Nash for the past 5 years. Sure Kobe will control the ball in key situations, as he should, but Nash is going to run free with this thing - something he wouldn't be able to do if Phil Jackson was still around. Kobe will defer and his life will be easier for it. I expect Kobe to have his most efficient season in years next season.
jamison is a solid bench signing, but he's gonna play stretch 4 and back up Gasol (and play the 4 with Gasol at the 5 some) will be great in pick and pop w/nash But yeah, i would have liked this entire team (sans bynum) way more 3 years ago...even 2. So much injury/decline/slowness risk
+1. Look at the point guards kobe has played with. Derek Fisher Rumeal Robinson Nick Van Exel Derek Harper Tyronn Lue Ron Harper John Celestand Brian Shaw Mike Penberthy Joe Crispin Lindsey Hunter Jannero Pargo Gary Payton Chucky Atkins Tierre Brown Aaron McKie Sasha Vujacic Smush Parker Jordan Farmar Shammond Williams Javaris Crittenton Coby Karl Sun Yue Steve Blake Trey Johnson Darius Morris Andrew Goudelock Ramon Sessions http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/lakers/post/_/id/31728/kobe-bryant-and-point-guards-the-list
Phil Jackson's triangle offense never used a ball-dominant point guard at all, so it's more like one year.
Addressed that in my post pancakes. And that's Tex Winter's triangle, former Rockets' Head Coach. Sup.
