    Chris Broussard's sources say that OJ Mayo is signing with Dallas.

    Does all of these contracts take them out of the Howard sweepstakes?

    I seriously doubt it. I'm gonna be seriously pissed if Dwight chooses a soon to be 37 year old Dirk over us. Seriously

    i think you may have it backwards. its top 20 protected. so you have to have about 10 teams better then them each year until its unprotected in about 4 years. if the rockets don't get the pick next year i could easily see it going until then because its time for dirk to start slowing down.

    His team tried to trade him for JEFF FOSTER, then tried to trade him again the year after that. They didn't make the Q.O. that should tell you something about his value. Also, Tony Allen beat him up.

    Ya, I gotta agree with the Mayo is overrated camp here. Memphis has been trying to get rid of him for a while now for peanuts and there hasn't been a ton of interest in him. Even now - he's clearly a 3rd wave signing for teams who value many other FAs over him in this relatively weak FA class. Dallas signed him I'm sure hoping to turn his career around. It was a high upside, relatively low risk(for their roster) pick for them. At worst, he probably is just average - at best he is a fringe all star or super 6th man. I'm really interested to hear how much they are paying him.

    Good job dismantling your championship team, Cuban. It has been totally worth it.

    I would've gone to Phoenix myself, Cuban is even worse than Morey with changing his team. He just picks up any player he likes and get rids of them just as quickly. What I don't understand is how he does it so easily and everybody wants to go there: Dwight, Deron and probably others as well, despite the constant change of players. Is it because Cuban has a winning attitude and is very much involved?

    By the way, OJ Mayo is not that great and Dallas is probably the most changed team at the beginning of the 2nd season after winning a championship. I never understood that, to change a team completely after winning a championship. The Rockets did a poor job as well because at the beginning of 95-96 there was no OT, no Max, no Brooks and no Herrera (key players to 93-94 season and championship run).

    Playoff potential? Sure. But you just rattled off Dirk Nowitzki and 7 borderline starting caliber players. Only Marion could start for the Lakers. Only Kaman could start for the Celtics. Not sure any of them could start for the Thunder or Bulls.

    It wasn't so much losing those specific guys as our deficiency in team rebounding.

    Well Deron is from Dallas but he chose to play with Joe Johnson instead of Dirk so I'd say that theory is garbage. The only reason Dwight wanted to go to Dallas was to play with Deron. Dirk doesn't attract anyone and Cuban can only attract players with his money. Ask Brendon Haywood.

    Once Dirk retires they'll be on the same treadmill we are. Plus, Cuban likes to overspend (Haywood, Dampier)

    Mavs have successfully torn apart their championship roster. With their new squad, they're guaranteed 1st or 2nd round fodder to OKC, SA, Clippers, Lakers etc.

    Tyson Chandler -> Chris Kaman
    Jason Terry -> OJ Mayo
    Jason Kidd -> Darren Collison
