exactly. We don't have to bid against ourselves. Houston can set up Orlando for rebuild by offering 2 first round pics (1 guaranteed lottery), Martin's expiring, 1 of the 3 rookies, 1-2 young players, and take back 1-2 bad contracts. That is honestly better than anyone else (minus a star player being traded in the process) and is the PERFECT formula for a team to rebuild quickly--which is why Houston is actually in a GREAT position to rebuild as is, if we wanted to go that route (young players, great contracts, high draft picks etc).

Orlando will probably demand Lamb, Parsons, D-Mo, jones, 2 draft picks etc but who are we competing against? A maxed out Lopez? Tristan Thompson? (even the cavs wouldn't offer Irving in a Howard 1 year rental). Howard screwed the magic by saying he won't resign with anybody exept Brooklyn. They are pretty much taking whatever deal we want to give them, or letting him walk to brooklyn next year. Their choice.

yeah this is what i'm afraid of. He's the one draft pick I want to keep. I see him as an outside shot of becoming a player like McGrady

ORL is only hurting themselves...They had a chance to draft the players they wanted...by trading with the Rockets...in arguably a pretty deep draft class. Secondly, the Rockets offered much more prior to the draft for Howard...ORL now is stuck and doesnt know what to do.

Morey is going to get his players one way or another...and he will not have to overpay or take on bad contracts to do so... ORL is really in a lot of trouble...

repped. Bad contract from Orlando should be Turkey. I hope we do get Asik and Lin so we can't absorb any other contracts from Orlando, though we'd still have the capspace to do so...

Great Post. I realize ESPN sources have not been so reliable, but it appears there have been enough smoke lately to suggest that Houston has offered the farm if not close to it to land Dwight. Where have you seen that Houston has indeed ONLY offered Martin, 1 Rookie Draft pick and future 1st Round? I would LOVE that if that were the case. Just curious where you saw that.

he has a smooth jump shot...and with that sick floater...this kid will do some damage in the league..But i hope he is nothing like Mcgrady..."all talent, all lazy"

I hope Lamb is all talent all work..and then he has a chance to be special

Why the hell is everyone so certain D-Mo is Morey's prized possession? Why not Lamb? After MKG went #2 the Rockets passed on opportunities to move up in the lottery... tells me that Lamb was very high on the Rockets board.

I'm effing seriously tired of this Howard drama. Right now I could care less if we get him. My hate on Hennigan is growing by the day. Those indecisive effers need to just effing end this sheet. I'd rather stick to our team with Lin as the leader. I don't care if we suck bad for years to come. Just end the Howard crap. Please!

Several fairly dependable local media sources have reported the Rockets are offering far less that ESPN and Sports Illustrated are reporting.

because DMo has the most upside out of all the rookies. He was considered a top 3 draft prospect when he was 17. I think Morey values a skilled 7 ft. as opposed to a SG.

It was in a correction, I think in a Feigan article..i'll have to look for it but its all over the CF boards. Basically the "selling the farm" bid from Morey was probably leaked from Orlando as their asking price and Houston countered with what I wrote previously (1 rook, 1 pick, martin, 1 bad contract).

Again, in the 'fog of war' we don't know exactly what is going on. Lots of misinformation but giving the farm for what we HAVE to consider is only 1 year of Dwight, is simply stated not worth it. Its only worth if if having Dwight for one year guarantees a championship and nonone thinks that...so why do it unless you think you can rebuild the right way after he leaves (And throwing up all of our players is NOt the way to do it).

Great news. Explains why Orlando is looking elsewhere.

The Lin and Asik deals have to be finalized first so the Rockets know how much garbage they can take back (hopefully not a lot).

My guess is the Lin drama ends first, Asik will follow shortly after. My assumption is that the Dwight trade probably wont go down until late-July/early-August at the earliest.

I'm sure Morey has already told Hennigan that while Morey gets the Lin/Asik deals finalized, go ahead and search for better deals. If a better one comes by, then go for it. Morey really is in the driver seat and has nothing to lose. If we get Dwight and he extends his contract, awesome! If he bolts, awesome, rebuild! If we dont get Dwight, awesome, rebuild!

Its GREAT negotiating on behalf of Morey. We can still offer 2 1st picks, 2 rooks, Martin, and prob. take 2 bad contracts and it would still leave us in a good position for the future, net us Howard, and give Orlando something in return. I think that is probably what the final deal (if there is one) would look like.

Morey has shown he is a really good negotiator (even with the small assets he's acquired in trades). He won't mortage our future for an injury riddled 1 year Hoard.

Dwight being a 1 year rental just knocked his value way down. And its not just Houston saying it, its why no other team has come forward ON THEIR OWN to acquire Howard.

One thing for Morey is that he is not going to lose his mind to overpay a player or overpay other teams to get the players. All your analysis is on the target, we just hope the best in the final result or just say "Bummer" if we can not get him.

I think that was simply the Lakers responding to Houston amnestying Luis Scola.

You wanna deal on your own without the Lakers? Well, we can arrange a three-team trade without you, too!

(Lakers want in on the Orl-Hou trade to land Dwight.)

We'll I believe he is more on the Kobe side then T-Mac side. Kobe's father played in the league and so did Lamb's father also. T-Mac's didn't. So I know Lamb has been trained right and knows how hard he has to work as did Kobe but T-Mac nada lol

Martin, Parsons, Raptor pick, White, unguaranteed contracts, Dallas pick and NY 2nd rders for Dwight, Rich and Hedo.

Losing parsons sucks, but its for Dwight. I also think a combination of Hedo and Jones can fill that void of Parsons. Hedo has buyout option next year as well.

Orlando gets a likely fan favorite in Parsons, picks and expirings, and royce while getting rid of some of their bad contracts with Dwight.

    Best case roster
    Lin/Machado
    Lamb/JRich
    Hedo/Jones/Morris
    Ppat/Dmo
    Howard/Asik/Leuer
