    my theory...

even if we land Howard he is going to be limited at the beginning of the season.

Asik would get a starters share of minutes as Howard works his way back into game shape.

Depending on how things shake out either Asik or Dwight would get dealt at the deadline.

    basic risk mitigation

Neither team is in a hurry to do anything. If/when we get Asik, we will still have the cap room to take on contracts.

Howard is out if Cleveland is in....that's the only way we loose Howard and asik then becomes the topic of discussion. I really feel if bynum says he will sign an extension there then the cavs are going to go all in on that ....bet anything.

As for whether Lin is "worth it"- Bulls will likely match same back-loaded $25 MM contract for Omer Asik (w/ career avg = 2.9 ppg & 4.4 rpg)

With Howard we wont need him. Leuer and Harrelson can backup Howard just fine.

Bulls are gonna match, and Harrelson is waived.

Leuer will probably be waved also.

If we come up with some crazy "new" contract Bulls aren't going to match. Or at least I think they won't, 'cuz matching everything that someone throws at you can be bad, but on the other hand Morey can get burn if he plays with fire a lot.

Will be happy to see someone like Asik (7" C with D-playing abilty) though

They'd probably package Leur and Harrelson in a trade as the non guaranteed salaries would be pretty valuable as a salary match. Then Orlando or whomever can just waive the players.

Not when Morey unveils the renegotiated Asik offer sheet, in which he pays the team 10 million over the first 2 years and then gets a check for 50 million in the last year.

How much longer do the Bull have to match the offer to Omer?

Rockets have not sent out the offer sheet to Omer. They are waiting on the Lin situation to play out, which may or may not end tomorrow(at the 11:59ET deadline for NY). Once NY decides, Houston will move on to Asik. We'll go through the same procedure(hopefully with less BS) with Chicago and Asik.

Anyone know why we did the Lin offer sheet first? Asik agreed first.
