Luis will be paid what his contract called for. The Rockets will pay that balance MINUS the Suns' bid.
The team that amnesty's a player pays the difference of whatever a team will pay to claim him off waivers. So Les will pay about 60% of his salary it looks like. Compare that to the Mavs and Haywood and Les is making out ok in comparison to what other teams are paying for players that are getting amnestied.
Honestly I think Scola Makes the Suns a L-E-G-I-T threat.....to crash the first round for some team like San Antonio or the Lakers as a 7 or 8 seed. Really think about this 10-11 man rotation Gortat/Frye Scola/Markieff/Warrick Dudley/Beasley (Mayo)(Lee)/Shannon Brown Dragic/Marshall I put mayo/lee in parentheses bc I feel one will end up here. You have a starting unit with 3 dead eye shooters in Gogi, whoever the SG is, and Dudley. Gortat is an animal on the boards so it should make up for what Scola doesn't do on the glass, but at the same time Scola getting doubled down low leads to many, many open 3's and we all know Scola is a wizard in the post. The bench is especially intriguing bc Beasley is a guy who could on any night drop 30 and most benches don't really have a guy like that. I mean many guys in the NBA can score but Beasley can flat take over and when you combine that with great shooters like Shannon Brown,Markieff, and Channing along with a true pass first PG ala Jason Kidd in Kendall Marshall you have a truly offense no defense second unit that can just run you out of the building and I could see this phoenix team winning many, many regular season games possibly in the 45-48 range with no injuries and an older Mavs team possibly falling out and Utah still being an up and coming team I see anywhere from 6-8 seed for this team as the ceiling with them probably battling Denver for seeding all year long after Grizz Thunder Lakers Spurs Clippers yes in that order....I feel the grizz are due big time, awesome young team and I don't know why but I feel the Ibaka/Harden situation is gonna play out badly for OKC with a trade possibly happening to dump one by the deadline. All in all phoenix is going to be a real player this year, I like this move ALOT....this was a .500 team last year and they added: Scola Beasley Dragic Marshall while losing 38 year old Nash
Luis Scola @LScola4 Well, its finally official and my days in Houston are over. It came down a little different that I thought it was going to be, but It won't change all the great memories I have, you guys make me feel at home for 5 years and I won't never forget that. Thanks to all Now I'm a Sun, let's see what I can do for them I'm very excited.
What's your point? They'll be the 8th seed in te playoffs? Congrats on nothing Les and the Rockets are trying to build a championship contender, not a playoff contender.
Scola is a class act. Going to miss him even though it was the right move for the direction of the team to amnesty him.
Wished the Heat would have won the bidding war, but we all knew that wasn't happening. Glad the Spurs didn't get him. Would suck having to play against him 4 times next season and when we meet them in the playoffs.
You know, someone made the same joke earlier and I didn't get. I need to go to that thread and apologize to the other person.
