It may have been time for him to go but not because he can't play. He has great post moves, a knock down jumper and the dude is a class act. I'm glad he is going to a good team.

    Good Luck Luis Scola!

What are the rules regarding trading a player taken off amnesty waivers?

I can conceive of a situation where Scola might be a pretty attractive trade piece for the Suns to a contender at the deadline, especially if they can trade for him at amnesty claim salary.

So now the Suns will be my #2 team. I doubt we will beat them this year. If they get Mayo, they may surprise...

At least he'll be reunited with an old teammate. Good luck to Luis! I'll miss seeing you in a Rockets uniform.

Wasn't there some article about how the suns' fan respect us because we don't tank, even at the risk of being perpetually mediocre?

I swear I saw this as a Rockets line-up in the random trade thread at one point...

    Les got a break.

Luis Scola gets 4.1, 4.5 and 4.9 million over next three years from Suns but only 440K is guaranteed in year 3. Yea les did get a break.......only a few million coming out of his pocket every year compared to some of the other amnesty players that are almost entirely getting paid by the team that cut them.

Why did he get a break? Doesn't a player who gets amnestied still get payed the total amount owed to him by his former team on top of the money that he's earning with his new team?

Maybe I'm mistaken. Does the amount that Phoenix is paying him subtracted from the amount Houston owes him?

Yes, the new team bids on how much of the contract they are willing to pay. The team willing to pay the largest percentage gets the player.

They'll be fun to watch. Scola and Dragic fit perfectly into the Suns' system. Scola will make Phoenix better than Houston, which means Houston's draft pick should be better.
