Guessing the Players Association will be having a chat with Mr. Anthony right soon. And the "conversation" will be one-sided, the first words being "STFU and listen ..."
If its so ridiculous then don't match it. What's the problem? If the rockets offered him a ridiculous contract that is way too much money, then let him walk. Same thing at an auction, either you pay for the item, or you don't.
What a dick thing to say. This leads me to believe Melo doesn't really want Lin there taking the ball from him. If he really wanted him back he should have just said "bring him back no matter the cost".
Watching Sportscenter this morning. Damn Steven A Smith just went on a long rant on Lin with the following: - questioned his desire that he didn't play when he was 85% healthy in the playoffs - only 1/2 season of play - says he got a "big head" - says he owes the Knicks for turning him into a star
Where exactly is he wrong? Mario Chalmers locked him up when he was 100% last time in regular season so Lin had one of the most pathetic performances I have ever see. 1-11 FG, 8 TO is inexcusable. He also rejected to play for USA select team. So much about his desire to play.
Lin has a Harvard education and doesn't shout like an idiot, does anyone expect Stephen A to like Lin?
Stephen A got a lot of basketball knowledge. That is undeniable. But let's bash everyone who knows basketball, because we don't like it.
SA Smith does know quite a bit about basketball...but he's also a loud-mouthed, egotistical, opinionated ass at times (well...at most times).
That's a great reason to give someone that we cut outright last season and has a whole 26 game NBA starter resume a $25 mil contract over 3 years. Brilliant rebuilding
He didn't reject to play for the USA select team. He didn't play because he wasn't under contract and didn't want to risk injury, like most NBA players. That is one of the reasons Lin is "upset" at the NYK. His camp says that if the Knicks gave him a reasonable contract offer at the beginning of FA, he would have accepted it and would have played on the USA Select team to better hone his skills. The Knicks, however, in DM fashion, let the market set his value. There is some irony in the fact that it was DM in the end that screwed a team for letting the market set the price on a RFA. I am not the biggest Lin fan out there, he has only played 35 NBA games. Nobody knows if he is going to replicate his 16 ppg 6 Ast averages over 35 games, but we do need a PG. He might not be as good as Lowry and Dragic, but he sure as hell will sell more jerseys than them. I don't know about you, but this current Rockets team doesn't really have that star player appeal. Whether or not his talent matches his hype is another thing, but bringing LIN to Houston will sell more tickets, attract more attention, and get people more excited about the Houston Rockets. That is something that we have sorely been lacking the past few seasons. (See number of Nationally Televised games). Considering the fact that we don't have any players NOT on rookie scale contracts signed through the 2014-2015, paying him 15 mil in the last season of the contract isn't that atrocious. ESPECIALLY because you are only paying him 5 mil/season the two years prior. Honestly, based on the fact that he is a tall, quick PG that has upside, 5 mil a year is probably below what he should be getting paid for the first two years. However, because of the Gilbert Arenas rule in the new CBA, he can not be offered more than that amount in the first two seasons of this contract. If you average out the salary, he is getting paid 8.5 million a year for 3 years. If he turns out to be as good as he showed during that Knicks win streak (not saying he will, but he might), and if you consider the upside, he sure as hell is worth that amount of money. I am not saying Lin is Steve Nash, but lets try to make sure we get the facts out to those reading CF. Too many people put out uneducated opinions on this board and make it a lot worse than it used to be. This board has been inundated with little kids and knee jerk responses.
Just another example of ESPN's big market bias. Before when NY was for sure to match there were no questions about any of this. Now that it appears they won't match you get this. Same thing with Dwight. They mention him going to LA and him not wanting to re-sign with anyone but Brooklyn is an afterthought, not even brought up. Mention him going to Houston and we are crazy for wanting a guy who doesn't want to be here and will for sure leave. Pretty funny.
LMAO @ Lin "owes the knicks for making HIM a star". No he earned that. Lmao @ the racist comment, f*** outta here.
SAS forgot to mention that the Knicks couldve avoided this ****storm instead of telling Lin to test the market
I'm not understanding the response to this contract. They are acting like Morey did something illegal. Were cardinal fans this up in arms and talking about what goes around comes around when the angels gave pujols that contract? No, they just didn't match the terms. That's what free agency is all about. If you don't think he is worth it don't match it. Obviously Morey does think he is worth it. Maybe we should be mad that Phoenix offered so much for dragic. Why can't we just have him for 2 million a year.
