I wouldn't doubt the NY Knicks trying to troll the rockets. Sending out "reports" that the Knicks will not much, just to get Houston's hopes up. Only to match in the closing minutes of te deadline.

Marc J. Spears reports the Knicks will likely wait three days before declining to match the Rockets offer sheet for Jeremy Lin.
Spears added the Knicks are "highly doubtful" to match the three-year deal. All signs continue pointing to Lin being a Rocket sooner rather than later.

Don't celebrate yet. This could just be misinformation the Knicks are putting out there. Wouldn't put that past them.

He is starting to catch on, but still doesnt have it quite right, does he?

It is very funny to me how far out in front CFs is of these highly-compensated national media "NBA experts." They need to subscribe.

I don't buy it. So far, all Knicks have done is sign Raymond Felton. The rest are all pure speculation and rumors. Business wise, it makes no sense for the Knicks to just let Lin walk without getting anything in return. If indeed, Lin comes to the Rox, it'll be a pure emotional move since the Knicks felt Lin betrayed them by letting the whole world know the Knicks will match.

Either way, its a win-win for the Rockets.

If he doesn't sign, this team can go back to focusing on rebuilding and being not just bad... but really bad... in order to finally get a young star with real potential.

Also, the Knicks get riddled in salary cap hell for a player that won't be worth the tax hit. Yes, he will bring in extra revenue for being Asian... but its not like the Knicks were "un"popular before they got him. They're still a marquee franchise regardless.

I call BS on this article. especially this part:
The Knicks told EVERYONE that they would match any contract Lin got. Everyone knew that the Knicks would match. Like Lin had to tell the Rox that Knicks was gonna match. pfft.

Is there any truth to the rumor NY that is angry at Lin for disclosing to Morey that NY was going to match? Supposedly they feel he undercut them.

The truth probably is that the Knicks asked him to tell the Rox that they wouldn't match the previous offer while they told Lin that they would match that offer but may not be able to match a max Arenas offer.....and told the media they would match any offer. Lin may have let the cat out of the bag on them, and if so, so what. Every GM in the league is doing their best to con every other GM in the league. They're constantly lying to each other. It's just business.

(I'll still be surprised if they don't match anyways.)

Jared Zwerling: What would really shake up the sports world is if Jeremy Lin and Dwight Howard formed the pick-and-roll punch in Houston.

+1 and of course it would.

    Lin/Howard > Dragic/Camby/Dally

Lin is currently working out in the Bay Area with his longtime trainer, Brandynn Williams, on everything from dribbling to pick-and-roll maneuvering. He said he's trying to help Lin be more efficient making plays, in order to cut down on his high turnover rate from last season in his first-time starter role.

Williams thinks the Knicks will match because they'll recognize "he's legit and want him back."

"He looks really good and he's working hard," Williams told ESPN New York. "All he does is work out and work out some more. He will have a better year this year. He will always be successful because he lives in the gym.

"The world has not seen anything yet."
