Jeremy Lin agrees to terms on offer sheet [Update: Lin officially signs]

I highly doubt we start 2 rookies if we trade for Howard.

I think it is very ambitious to project Dmo as a major contributor his first year over unless we are tanking. Euros usually need some time to adjust especially if you are a big. Unless you are a MVP over there like Scola, and even then it took him half a season to start.

That team above has an upside of a 3 seed if 3 things happen.

1. Howard is healthy for at least 70 games.

2. Patterson is finally over his ankle injury and shows major improvements like we expected last year.

3. Lin is a consistent above average PG and borderline star - around Lowry's level.

 

Up until the last 2 weeks of the season, the Rockets were the 6th seed...and that was with Lowry who had been missing for quite some time and KM, who basically disappeared last season.

To think that adding Lin and Howard wouldnt make a HUGE impact is very naive.

I think a lot of people forget how much 1 player can make a difference in the NBA. This isnt the NFL we are talking about...this is a league where you need a superstar to at least compete. Dwight automatically puts the Rockets in the thick of the playoffs.

We would be in the playoffs with Dwight. But this dream rosters are outta control. The will want Parsons and Lamb along with Kmart. We will have at probably 3 magic players to add. We will have some real weaknesses.

If we steal Asik from the Bulls and sign Lin it gets even more complicated and we may have to give up more players in a deal to get Dwight.

 

Dwight Howard is not a top 5 player. He is squarely #2 as far as impact goes. He changes your team's defense single handedly. On a .500 team you replace Dalembert with him and that instantly adds 10 wins.

 

He'd be gone in a trade to bring in Howard.

 

...and the Lakers, Spurs.... We just lost to teams we should have beat.

With last years team they would be a top 3-5 seed if Howard came..this year not so much as of right now

 

What the Magic want...doesnt necessarily mean the Magic get. No way Morey gives up Lamb AND Parsons.

If we lose Lamb, then I say they bring Lee back. Still, a lineup of: Lin, Lee, Parsons, insert PF, and Howard...thats dangerous, specially when we are talking Lee, Parsons and Howard on the defensive end.

I think your imagining us in a much higher position in terms of bargaining. They are trying to rebuild with this deal. And i know they need to move him which hurts their leverage. But you can take it to the bank that Parsons and Lamb will be wanted and Morey will bite on that for a superstar.

Id be psyched with bringing back Lee.

If we give up both Lamb and Parsons then we're probably only taking back 1 bad contract instead of 2. That gives us room to sign free agents to bolster that starting lineup.
