Man, if we do end up signing Howard, Asik, and Lin, keeping Donatas and at least one of our 3 draft picks, and hanging on to Parsons and Lee, this would turn out to be a freakin' amazing off-season. Just amazing. Sure, I'll still be depressed about losing Luis, but what a balm to my soul that end result would be. And we would still be set up to go after Chris Paul next year with a max contract (I'm assuming Bima is correct about our cap situation), who Howard would love to play with, and vice versa, getting Howard to sign an extension for sure.

Should that all play out, and while very unlikely, it's not totally unrealistic, we would have remade the team within a year. The Rockets would be a contending team. Not simply a good team that could make noise in the playoffs, but a serious contender for a title. And the thought of that happening has me very excited. What is cool is that without Paul, we could still be a contending team, if Lin turns out to be more than a flash in the pan, and Howard signs that extension.

    Wow.

Why don't you go ruin another team's off-season, Stern.

Right but I thought that was just a given. Martin is a quality player on an expiring contract. He can net them something good at the trade deadline.

I love that Daryl Morey is at least going for it and taking major chances. At no point did I really think the Rockets could land Lin but now it does not seem out of the realm of possibility that they could land all three of their off-season targets.

The Knicks have Kidd, Felton, Prigioni at the point right now. Shumpert can also run the point once he recovers from his injury. I don't know fellas.. I say Knicks won't match our offer sheet. Too many PG's already.

If it wasn't any clear indication as it is. Why the heck would you trade for Felton in the same day they receive Lin's offer sheet?

Magic Johnson has also claimed that the Lakers should blow the team up and trade Bynum, Odom, and Gasol for Dwight Howard, and whatever else the Magic want to give up

I love Magic Johnson.. i will always be a fan of his. But ESPN has this guy saying crap that doesnt make sense half the time

TNT and NBA TV while they still can be objective, are least are more credible. You wont find analysts or TNT or NBA TV claiming this 2012 USA Team could beat the 1992 Dream Team.. unlike B$PN

If Lin just turns out to be good, the publicity for the Rockets will be incredible. I don't think Dwight has really wrapped his head around the crazy international attention Yao brought to the team and its players, with the endorsements that go along with that attention. Not only would Lin make Alexander a boatload of money, but his presence would help significantly, IMO, to keep Howard. All Lin has to be is good. If he turns out to be better than good, then for the franchise, it's gravy. And a huge plus on the court, of course.

I was kind of against it when I heard the real offer... but I'm all-in now. Let's do this thing.
