    The difference between the last 2 Pg's is that they wont sell seats and pack the house like Lin. LIN will bring in The Money for The Rockets.

    Lin is a cash cow.....

    only 1 real asian player in nba = billions of asian fans/companies

    dragic = plenty white guys

    Lowry = plenty black guys

    In Toronto the opposing fans were cheering for Lin.

    Only Jordan had this.

    Exactly

    Which franchise is mismanaged?

    The one that hovers right at the lux tax line, or the one that routinely is WELL over the lux tax line?

    Vast differences in the amount of money pouring thru NY, for what? Knicks are right around Houston's record, in the East.

    Mismanagement indeed.:rolleyes:

    Can you honestly tell me any team does not care about profits? They are a business and that's the bottom line.

    Morey has been looking pretty bad in his dealings with the Knicks.

    The potential Lin market is there though.

    The more I think about it, the more it all makes sense, whether Morey intended it to or not.

    Signing Dragic to 4 year deal (w/player option):
    -would have locked up an integral part of last year
    -however runs the risk of Dragic busting out and saddling us with a 4 year contract
    -Those of you who scoff at the risk of Dragic busting I got two words for you: Darren Collison and Ramon Sessions

    Signing Lin to a 3 year deal:
    -almost same player as Dragic (Dragic's a bit better on D and all around scoring, Lin seems to have better bball IQ and passing skillz)
    -Brings Le$ some much needed moolah (gotta earn a profit)
    -can sell DH on promise to China market with Lin

    If NY matches:
    -CP3 loses out on NYC market
    -might have a chance to pair DH with CP3 next year
    -Did NY a favor (would explain the needless "We'll trade Camby for his max value even if we could have gotten him as a FA" trade NYC did for us)
    -gives Le$ and every other owner some free moolah courtesy of NYC luxury tax in year 3. Those of you guys who think other teams are gonna help the Knicks stave of lux tax are idiots, they will be 17M over the tax on just 8 players in year 3. Let's assume they pay 3M to fill out the rest of the roster and are 20M over the tax. They are a repeat offender under the new CBA and would be paying out 65M on year 3. You think other teams will bail out on that kind of money? And that is if they manage to spend just 3M on 7 players LOL. More likely they will sign even more bad contracts and end up paying 80-100M on year 3.

    Thanks for clearing up year 3 for me. That'd be unbelievable, I didn't think they were going to be that over the limit. I know James Dolan has a history of overpaying but damn that'd be way over doing it, even if he has opened an asian market up in China. I kinda do want NY to match now just to see how badly year 3 works out for them. Because honestly the way the Heat are able to sign former all stars, the Heat in my opinion are going to be 1-2 seed every year for the next 2-3 years easy. Nets and Bulls won't be too far behind, which only gives you NY and Celtics to fight it out for the 4th seed.. Uh right not worth it, East is way too top heavy.

    And on the question on who is going to potentially back up Lin if we get him, you have Shaun Livingston, Ish Smith, Ferguson, Tony Douglas and maybe Scott Machado. Zoran is a SG by the way..

    I feel Lin's popularity in china is overrated ... Yao is like a national hero in China. Lin on the other hand is Taiwanese American, a foreigner. His level of influence is much much less.

    My assumption would be Toney Douglas with Machago as the 3rd string.

    I've said this many times... a lot of people against brining JLin to Houston aren't looking past his stats. JLin brings the intangibles that Lowry and Dragic didn't bring to this team - LEADERSHIP. He instilled confidence in NYK's role players and completely turned their season around. He put fans back in the seats in multiple arenas. Key wins against the Lakers and the Mavs.

    You can argue the Lowry was a leader, but if reports are true that he didnt get along with McHale and didnt listen to him - well that's not a leader.

    You can argue that Dragic is a better player, and he probably is. But after he became the starter last year, we werent any better. Team finished 13-13 with Dragic as a starter.

    Amare missed games and Melo missed games, and yet, the Knicks continued to win regardless.
