Damnit people, this is a negotiation. You always, always try to find something that benefits the other side more than it hurts you, and then convince them that they made you concede that aweful piece. Here, dumping big baby's contract appears to be a big deal to Orlando. Fine, motet resists that for a while, then "caves " and agrees to take on that deal. From our perspective, its ridiculous to judge big baby as if we were signing him as a free agent. Which is exactly what some people are doing here. The only relevant question is whether his contract and peerformance is better than the other stuff Orlando has. And that ain't a question at all. So I believe folks here are missing the point. CH - a far better poster than I am - ain't trying to argue that big baby is a good FA acquisition. He's. Just pointing out that big baby is pretty ok under the circumstances. Which is pretty indisputable.
Anyone have the Brad Miller phantom tomahawk slap? Favorite vid of him. Joking aside, they call him big baby for 3 reasons. 1) he was originally baby shaq, and he didn't want to be labeled that and be in shaq's shadow. 2) he was big, I mean, huge in LSU and couldn't lose weight. 3) he cries like a little b$&@! He is productive, but it's a hard pill to swallow routing for a team with him on it.
Wasn't Davis a guy Morey had his eye on in the 07 draft? Seems like I remember reading about that-- one of those moves intending to buy a second round pick but I think someone worked a deal with Seattle before we could. The draft is such a crapshoot. Morey and the Rockets selected Joey Dorsey before both Omar Asik and DeAndre Jordan. Making me lean for the D12 deal more and more....
Davis played best when playing as a starter at center. Which is kind of the position Dwight plays. At his price, he isn't horrible. He's not a great rebounder or defender. He IS horrible at shot selection. Like ridiculously bad. But again, he's relatively cheap.
Glen Davis was on a team that won a title is what you meant to say. He avg'd an incredible 4 ppg that year.
