This should be posted at the top of every page in this thread in bold letters for the reading impaired. Jeez! The shrill level of hysteria over this rumor would be laughable were it not for so many Rocketsheep reciting it as if it were The Gospel According to ESPN.

The way Bima indicated the cap was set up, in order to sign those offer sheets they needed to dump Lee's bird rights. By indicating they are going to amnesty Scola that tells me they want to keep Lee's BRs which tells me they think they are going to get Dwight.

But, and this is a big but, that is just me hypothesizing.

    Minor point of order.

They had to release his cap hold by renouncing their rights. If Lee were to decide to resign with HOU, we would still have his bird rights.

Would they be able to stagger the offer sheets and offer just Lin, even without dumping Lee's bird rights or Scola? It seems the Knicks will match rather quickly (not using 72 hours). Then we could move on to Asik after that.

Perhaps it's nothing, but I'm starting to feel like we're playing with fire.

I don't think so, but I'm not 100% sure. Even with the staggering of the offer sheets, if I recall Bima's posts correctly, they'd need to clear some room by dumping Lee. (or Scola in lieu of)

Would people feel different about the trade if we could keep Lamb and Parsons along with Motiejunas? Fiegan said the Rockets are not offering both rookies from last season and all draft picks from this season.

    C - D12 - 6'11" 26 years old
    PF - DMo - 7' 21 years old
    SF - Parsons - 6'9" 23 years old
    SG - Lamb - 6'6" 20 years old

I could get pretty excited watching that group grow up together with Howard as the leader. All we would be missing is our PG of the future.

They withdrew their qualifying offer making him an UFA instead of a restricted free agents, but they have not renounced their bird rights as of now that I can tell.

I would hope the Rockets would bring in Olajuwon in some capacity. I would think being around Dream on a daily basis might help convince Dwight to re-sign.

The article by Stein and Ford seems to be part factual (Rockets looking to amnesty Scola, increase flexibility, offer draft picks, young players and taking bad contracts), part speculation (what the Asik situation means, who had to be included in a trade to take back 3 contracts plus Dwight). If you read the sentences carefully, you can tell which part is what they heard and which is what they thought might be included.

I will bet much of the latter came from Larry Coon constructing trade scenarios based on the CBA rules. This is why he knew about the article before it was posted.

Jonathan Feigan is a much more reliable "source" when it comes knowledge of Rockets trades. This is what he said this morning in response to this report-

Last I heard, Rockets were not offering both of last season's rookies AND all three of this years picks. Many could be in a deal though

From reports last week, the main wrinkle in the deal was Morey's "Un-willingness" to take back bad contracts. The Scola-Amnesty pretty much signaled that he's now softed his stance on taking back bad contracts. It seems like the package of young players being offered hasnt changed.

There is virtually no earthly reason why Morey would ALSO increase the amount of players that were going to Orlando in the deal as well at this stage of the game when he has already trumped every offer in the NBA already.

The next move by Morey is to stick out his offer on the table and be patient.
