I haven't read any of the previous replies but I believe Spurs will amnesty one of their own to bring in Scola.

I hate ex Rockets players coming back to kill us but oh well.

So if he clears waivers, we still can't reclaim him?

no, not for the length of time that is left on his current contract.

Its a moot point, Scola WILL be claimed, he is better than some here give him credit for.

This sucks. Scola was awesome and classy.

I'd rather keep him then get another "superstar whiner".

in other related news, Scola injured his right knee last night playing for the Argentina National Team. He is schedule to undergo tests today.
The national team's press guy said that Scola made an awkward move that generated pain in his knee joint.
Tests wil determine the extent of the injury and if he will be able to play in the Olympic games or not

I don't everyone here that wants him gone is worried about his current level of play. He's a stud; however he's also extremely old and while he may not rely on his athleticism to score his footwork still relies on agility. If he loses his quickness the only thing he has left is his eighteen foot jumper.

AND he just hurt himself. Wow.
    That sucks. :(

Sad to see him leave, one of my favorite players. But it's the right move for a franchise that needs to rebuild.

I wish him nothing but the best.

What's the next move now? Do we have the space now?

The next move is to get the offer sheets to Lin and Asik signed and delivered to the Knicks and Bulls. Then, we have to wait until they are either matched or not matched (basically, the 3 day waiting period) before we can do anything else. We have to know EXACTLY how much space we will have to take on contracts. I have a feeling it will be the middle of next week at the earliest before anything happens on the Dwight Howard front.

I think it's a safe bet it's a done deal. Scola is officially amnestined so thats mean Magic will trade DH to Houston, otherwise why would he amnestined?

Can't there be a verbal agreement, if not one already?

Also I've heard that NY and CHI matching wouldn't stop us from landing Dwight.

    Thanks

Although I hate to admit this, amnestying Scola makes sense in either direction the Rockets choose to go...

If they choose to rebuild, moving Scola will free up minutes for our young bigs like D-Mo, PPatt and T-Jones.

If they choose to go after Dwight, the move allows them to absorb contracts to better entice Orlando.

It was a good move, its just sad it had to come at the expense of Luis Scola. One of the hardest working players on/off the court, I have ever seen..
