I think he, along with many others here such as myself, are getting kind of tired of second guessing moves in contradictory manners. I mean, what are your typical anti-front office ramblings during the past few years?

    Before this offseason

    1. Morey doesn't take risks and only make no-upside moves
    2. Morey can't get anyone to come play in Houston
    3. Les wants to keep a .500 team to make money
    4. Team has no franchise player and we can't improve our roster without one.

    The Dwight Howard trade is

    1. Taking the ultimate risk that has more upside than any move the Rockets have made over the past decade(after lucking into the Yao pick)
    2. As big a superstar as there will ever be available for the Rockets: Bigger than Bosh, Melo, Amare, DWill, and CP3.
    3. Will make the team much better even by himself, as he has shown it again and again in Orlando
    4. Is as sturdy a cornerstone player as one can be. Center that shuts down the paint single-handedly, rebounds and score better than anyone else at the position. Can fit with any type of player we bring in.

The Dwight Howard trade, regardless of who we give up, represent everything fans on this board want the team to do. And now that the Rockets are actually doing it, ironically it's the fans getting cold feet. I'm as leery of how much we may give up as anyone, but honestly, they can blow up the entire team and I'd still be excited. For christ sakes he's DWIGHT HOWARD! And he may come to Houston, the most mediocre team in the past three years.

So is he confirming that this will happen? Is he just naming possibilities?

Who knows. Worst case is another week(or longer). Best case is sometime this weekend. Will the Knicks take all 3 days to match? Bulls seem more likely to take all 3 days.

The worst case scenario is that we give up all the "reported" current players mentioned, recently drafted mid-1st round players with potential (Lamb was mentioned in some quarters as a top 5 pick with All Star potential, and I agree with that assessment), valuable future 1st round picks, possibly the two 2nd round picks from the Knicks, and the cap clearing moves, one of which involves giving away our quality starting 4 (who's well regarded around the league), and Howard walks at the end of this season. I've heard all the reasons why he's doubtful to do that, but he could, and other big name stars have taken less money in the past to go to the team they desired to go to. That's the worst case scenario, and no one, no one, can assure that it can't happen if Howard doesn't sign an extension with Houston.

I don't think it is at all unreasonable for a hell of a lot of fans of the Rockets to be deeply worried about that possibily, and I'm not enjoying some of the redicule those fans have recieved from some quarters (and that isn't aimed at you... most of the stupid posts have come from relative newcomers to the board). The fact is that we don't know if we will even get Howard, and if we do, what the price will be. Not yet. Calling people who are concerned about the worst case scenario crazy or worse, if it happens, for feeling that way is juvenile, and says more, in a negative way, about the person saying those things than anything else. In my opinion. Oh, and I do think it would be one hell of a blow to the franchise if that worst case scenario were to play out.

I'm not interested in who(or how many) we're sending out, I'm interested in who we might take back. Come on Feigen, stop sitting on info! :p

Yes, but Morey seemed to have played it cool this entire time, making it look like the Rockets are not all that desperate. And he has to be, since how little we give up for Howard determines what other moves we can make.

Orlando has to be out of options. And the longer we wait, the more other teams are going to revamp their roster without thinking about Howard. Allowing the Rockets to get him at minimal cost, relatively speaking of course.

Actually, I think HW was influenced by ESPN not the other way around. ;)

I've never liked ESPN, but their transformation the last few years has been almost comical.

For all you Dwight Lovers, word is he is out until January with his back injury. He will probably sit out longer sense he doesn't want to be here..

well-said. People shouldn't jump the gun on BSPN rumors and start arming themselves with pitchforks and torches, but people have a right to be concerned. And as always, civility please!

Sigh. Basically, Magic still in their "stepping back" phase, and Scola being amnestied is because he doesn't fit, with or without this deal. Just has to happen now because of the brief amnesty window (July 11-17).

In other words, have a nice weekend, everyone. Really hope Morey pushes for some resolution next week, because at some point this thing will drag on long enough that it impacts the team we could have around Dwight (Lee, Brooks, etc.).
