I don't always post on CF, but when I do, I like to give mad props to people with clear headed thinking.

Just wanted to say that I completely agree with your last sentence. I think people are getting upset simply because they want to be heard and want some control in what's going on. Fact is, none of us are on staff with the Rockets and we have no say.

I for one would be ecstatic with a Howard trade. We have talked about wanting a superstar for so long, and have praised (of course not all of us) Morey for building a team that has great flexibility and is able to pull things off. Just a few weeks ago we were wanting Morey to trade up to get 2 top 10 picks to flip to the Magic for Howard. Now we are fretting over the fact that he is going to trade 3 10-20 range picks for him? Is it harder now that we have names to go with those picks? I don't get it. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Dwight may be the star we've been searching for for 3 years now, and we are the FRONT RUNNER for getting him and you guys want to pass on that because it may not work out? Guys, our young draft picks most likely won't work out. Statistics are against them. Dwight is proven. And we will still have great flexibility after the trade. When it's Go Big or Go Home, man always chose Go Big! If he leaves then at least we can say we tried. If we didn't do the deal, and he ends up going to the Mavs or LA or something next year, you guys will be all pissed that we didn't get Howard when we had the chance.

Lou, you know I got mad respect for you as a poster, but I refuse to believe you were seriously advocating tanking 4 years ago. That would have been in 2008, when Yao was still active.

You have also not educated yourself on the cap dynamics, that much is obvious from reading your posts lately, until you do your analysis of the moves recently and the ramifications of the moves are incomplete.

We will find out if he does walk. 2014 will be a top pick for us if that happens.

Im talking worst case scenario and Dwight pulls a T-Mac and refuses to suite up for Houston. I dont think that will happen, but its still a possibility if the S$%# hits the fan.

I'm guessing Howard does fire his agent after this is all over, whether or not he lands in Houston.

Deal wont happen till Monday most likely if there is an agreed framework laid out. Asik, Lin deals still need to be resolved, and Scola amnesty still needs to be officially filed with the league office.

No, they're on vacation but are harping the same thing on Twitter. It's Chuck Cooperstein (Mavs announcer) and Tim McMahon on now. They know Jack ****.

Even if he refuses to play I won't trade him to Brooklyn. Brooklyn has absolutely nothing of interest in a Howard trade. I would trade him for Bynum if he refuses to play but that's about it.

Kris Humphries should fire him too

"Come on Kris, just take the 1 year deal so Dwight can help Brooklyn dominate by getting rid of you"

Talk about a conflict of interest.

man if this trade happens Orl is going to be the new Rockets with 11 F's. hahah. 2Pat, Morris, Parson, White, Jones, Turk, Richarson, Gustavo, O Quinn, Nicholson, Harper. hahah. that would be funny. and if this trade does happen our line up should look like

    PG: Duhon / Douglas
    SG: J. Richardson / ?????
    SF: Q. Richardson / Forbes
PF: Donuts / Davis / Forbes
    C: Howard / ?????

with this trade we are switching entire roster for Orl roster. not good.

In 2008 when Yao got injured and Artest flew the coup and T-mac up in the air, I said if we trade T-mac, then it's time to rebuild. With Yao out for the season most likely tanking was the smart move. So it was for different reasons but yes, I did advocate taking a year to get a number one pick then. When it became clear Yao wasn't ever going to come back because of the foot injury, I definitely said it was time to start rebuilding 100% and have been there since. I argued with Dada - he wanted to trade tmac and let the young guys play, i was once you trade t-mac it's over and time to blow the team up and rebuild in the lottery or we will end up in no man's land. And that's exactly what happened. You can re-read the posts, and I can link to them for you if you like.

I looked at the cap implication threads and those 4 bad contracts will not allow us to sign much in terms of another star. Is that not correct? I am not an expert on the cap stuff - never was, but that's the jist I got.

Absolutely. His agent really screwed this deal up, and destroyed his image in the process. Fagan really messed this one up big time.

I wish we would just settle in and take Bynum. Give up a little less and build around him and our other young players. I don't think Bynum will LEAD your championship team, but he could be its best player.

If that is even true. The agent flat out denies it. The initial reports that they wanted him to take a 1 year deal in a sign and trade weren't even possible under the CBA so then they amended it to 1 year "guaranteed" deal. I think it is highly possible that most of that stuff was just ESPN making crap up.

So now we're hoping Chicago & NY match the offers we gave Asik and Lin for more cap space???

This is exactly why Morey needs to fired. You sign these guys to offer sheet then pray the offer is matched by the team you stole them from. Does this guy have a clue?

We would not have to give up less. You logically would think we would, but in reality it would be the same price. The Lakers have nothing they can trade for Dwight except Bynum. They can't trade any draft picks and they have no prospects. Therefore, to satisfy the Orlando portion of the trade, the Rockets would still have to be the team that trades for Dwight. That means whatever package we are willing to give up for Dwight directly still has to go to them.

A three way trade between ORL-LA-HOU is basically Houston trading for Dwight and trading Dwight for Bynum.

Funny, Ben and Skin are the absolute biggest of all Dallas homers. They were garunteeing Deron Williams would come to Dallas and were on suicide watch when he re-upped with the Nets.
