Well we would be getting Howard but we are taking their bad contracts also. and giving them young talent in 2pat, morris, Jones, and a expiring contract in Martin. + lottery picks. so i do think we should keep lamb out of this one.
I couldn't agree more. unfortunately Orlando knows Lambs potential as well. we can't keep all of our valuables.
actually, Much better than that offer because BRKLYN's offer didnt accomplish Orlandos top two priorities.. 1 - Get rid of bad contracts 2 - Actually acquire top draft picks..(1 Lotto guaranteed) (not late round firsts like BK)
They are giving us J Rich and Martin is expiring.....so Lamb makes the most sense...Morris would not play over Turk
Yep i deff agree. but i dont think any one of us knows that Morris can play, Rockets didnt give him that much Playing time and was kept getting sent to D-Leauge. but i think he can play well in SF/PF i do know he would be small for PF. but think he can play SF.
this would be a good/fair deal because it accomplishes two main things: 1) Houston gets the starter it wants in Dwight and gives up pieces that won't dstroy the future of the team (good players/assets and future picks) and takes on garbage contracts (although the players are still decent--just not 'moreyball' players in terms of value per production) 2) Orlando rids itself of bad contracts preventing a rapid rebuild (or any kind of roster makeover) and gains some hope for the future with a mix of good picks and promising young talent. The key is Houston is not giving up both talent, pics AND taking on cap space. Right now Morey has more leverage because we are the only legit team that can offer young assets, picks, cap room and no one else can come close to topping that deal for now. Orlando can either take it or walk and wait until the trade deadline but that is a much bigger risk and the value of any potential deal with undoubtedly decrease. Having said all that, it almost sounds too good to be true but then again we've been jaded by the ESPN "Houston will trade everything and the kitchen sink" thread for Dwight and his posse of overpaid contracts
This. No other team can take on multiple bad contracts. That is worth AT LEAST as much as trading away young promising assets because it gives Orlando cap flexibility to trade for and/or sign future promising stars while catalyzing the rebuilidng process without albatross contracts. Nets didn't come close to that kind of cap space, in fact, they would've burdend Orlando even further with the Lopez max contract, that most agree is risky at best, and probably a bad deal over the period of time...hampering a further rebuild.
Well lets get something straight. Prior to the 2011 NBA Draft, Marcus Morris was a highly distinguished prospect. Many thought that he was a lock to be a top 10 pick. So if we replace Lamb with Morris, that nothing to sneeze at...imo Although I still don't like the idea that we're both taking on bad contracts and giving the Magic everything they want (in terms of draft picks and young players). I would think that if we take on their bad contracts, the amount of assets we would give away would be a lot less that was being proposed in this trade. It just comes off as desperate from the rockets part of the negotiations, and you never ever, ever... want to come off as desperate in a negotiation.
