[ESPN] Sources: New trade offer in works (for Dwight Howard)

#1 Do you really think that Howard is going to leave $30,000,000 sitting on the table? If he was going to do that, he would have not picked up his option for this season.

#2 We are not going to lose our next lottery pick because of the NJ deal. Therefore if Howard leaves we will be looking at a very high draft pick.

#3 Richardson and Duhon will be off the books soon enough.

 

Yeah, they did great in Orlando.

 

Here's my theory...based on watching Morey operate in the past...


He is managing expectations. He has deliberately released this info. knowing full well it isn't going to happen. But when the trade does finally go down, people will say wow that's so much better than what we feared.

Its called managing espectations....and Morey is good at it.

Howard is far more valuable than Kobe.

 

The rest of the team was constructed poorly. Morey is a much better GM than Smith was. Smith couldn't find competent role players to fill out his roster.

I'll also point out that they actually did do very well in Orlando.

If Morey could pull a miracle and have this team after the next season:

CLee /J-Rich
Parsons / J-Rich
Donuts / Davis
Howard / Davis

I would be extremely excited. That's a title team.

Would be the dumbest trade in history

Dwight doesn't want to be here.

He has on-going back issues.

No talent would be left on the team.

We would be a worse version of the current Magic team.

Insanity I say. Can not be a legitimate source.

 

We will have either our 2013 or 2014 pick regardless of what deal we make. If we make the playoffs, our 2013 pick goes to ATL and we have our 2014 pick. If we don't make the playoffs we keep our 2013 pick, and won't be giving a pick until we make the playoffs, or 2017 when we would send our 2nd round pick to ATL.

If we trade a future 1st to Orlando, they would receive our 2015 pick if we make the playoffs, if we don't and live in purgatory, they would get our 2017 pick.

 

Rockets should put a deal on the table for Dwight alone and no other bad contracts. Tell them it's on the table until the deadline. One hour before deadline the Magic panic and take the deal.

 

It would be fun to see D12 and Motiejunas in the same front court.

Richardson's contract is not the problem, the problem is that we have to take additional three bad contracts, to me they are too much. I do not think we can build any good team for a long time if Howard is not going to stay after this year.

 

He got fleeced for a draft pick to get Battier. Morey isn't perfect, but that deal would be horrible. I can see the Rockets absorbing a lot of bad contracts. I can see trading the Toronto pick, Dallas pick, and all the 2012 rookies (I expect 2 to go in deal). I've not seen the Rockets do anything that would make me believe the Rockets are trading a SF much less both of them.

I highly expect Parsons, Morris, DMo, and White are still Rockets when the dust settles.

 

Negotiation tactic by Orlando. Trying to up the price. ESPN needs to just QUICK while its way way waaaaaay behind with the garbage posts.
