After the departure of Luis, Parsons is the only franchise player left in this team. Trading to him to Orlando will get us no where.

If we could keep Parsons, White and Lamb I'm good with it.

The ESPN 'proposal' probably a bit off, but how far off?

    Howard
After Howard, you can put together any number of scenarios w/ Orlando's 'bad' contracts. Hard to say.

Multiple 1st round picks - we can assume the Toronto and Dallas pick
Best, young player assets - Hard to speculate there too. Probably talking about 3-5 young guys of their choosing.

As I said earlier in the morning, not really about what you're sending to Orlando but what you're taking back. Taking back all of their bad contracts, you become the Orlando Magic. You lose flexibility. As disinterested as he might already be about coming here, bringing those guys along too? He's looking to get away from that.

They can trade Livingston for Duhon in a separate deal. Instead of Parsons they can trade Gary Forbes who makes more money. In fact they can trade all of the non-guaranteed guys. Article is inaccurate.

It said some combination of those players.

But you are correct, if the Rockets outgoing players remain as proposed, there is no way to make it work using any combination of the Orlando three that includes Turkoglu.

While it is widely assumed that Lin will be matched, the Rockets could still add Asik and have money left over. If they were to add both Lin and Asik, they could waive Livingston and have a perfect fit. Either way, it appears that the Rockets could pull off this trade and still have $12-$15M in cap room unless I am missing something.

Makes you wonder how the heck the Suns stole Barkley from the Sixers for Hornacek, Tim Perry and Andrew Lang lol
The equivalent of that would be Martin, Scola and Parsons straight up for Howard.

I am in the camp of getting Howard at all costs, then figuring out how to build around him later...but man...
I didn't think it would take trading the entire team to get him.
You have to keep at least two of those guys, maybe Parsons and Lamb. Let them have everyone else.

So it's a gamble ....but it's the only guarantee we get a superstar? I mean, leaving my house is a gamble. I suppose staying in my house is the only guarantee I wont be hit by a car. But the goal in and of itself is to win a championship. Getting a star is not an end in itself; it's a means to an end. Accepting conventional wisdom that getting a star is the best means to winning a championship, we have to acknowledge that it in no way guarantees a championship. Furthermore, there are several means to getting a star. My point is that it's not an all or nothing choice, and it certainly doesn't guarantee reaching our goal. In fact, there's an argument to be made that its not even the best way to reach our goal.

Morey would go down as the biggest IDIOT GM ever if he gives away everything and takes back all the bad contracts.

Rox end game bit of a mystery. Willing to take back all of ORL bad contracts, deal nearly every asset for DH, who I've been told won't re-up. GM Daryl Morey one of the most enterprising in the game, so there is a plan. Just very unclear what that is.

Trade makes sense but I don't like it. Who exactly is still on the roster from last year worth a damn besides Parsons. Scola, Lowry, Dragic, Dalembert, Camby, Lee are all gone. Orlando needs something in order to give up Howard. Oh well I don't like trading our future picks the most since the team will have nothing to show for if we likely lose Howard for a one year rental.

It's a gamble he stays... But it's the only way we guarantee we will have a franchise player on our team at all!

We can rebuild but I bet it will cause you alot more heartache over the next few years than if Dwight leaves. Because if we take the rebuilding route we won't be a contender at any point in the next 10 years, or however long KD and Westbrook are together! I say we grab the top 3 player and see what we can do with him, every other scenario just puts us in the same boat as about 25 other teams, trying to find that superstar!!

If they make the trade and Howard does leave, you're set back longer cause you lost the young players you had, plus cap flexibility, plus possible draft picks. No deal, move on Morey...

That bright side is that we could use the toronto pick and the ny picks to get another player. Morey must have some plans
