At this point we have not actually amnestied Scola. I would not expect the amnesty to happen until the Howard trade is solid. Otherwise we do not meet the NBA required minimum payroll. Even though his amnestied contract counts against the payroll, do not expect Morey to ditch an asset before it is required.
Terrible decision making and may I say it is even reckless in light of Dwight's sketchy intentions. Scola is a top 5 PF in the league right now and we're only saving $7 million a year. Why not amnesty Martin?
This section is referring to a payment schedule. The language reads as if its only related to how players receive a payout... Not cap implications
What exactly did you expect Hennigan to say? It is not as if he'd come out and say, 'yeah, the Scola move is directly linked to our negotiations with Houston.'
Umm what? (And no.) Love Bosh Dirk Duncan Jefferson Millsap Josh Smith Lamarcus Aldridge Garnett Boozer West On and on the list goes. Actually the majority of NBA teams have a better PF than Scola. Heck for all we know he might not even be a top 5 PF on the Rockets
I certainly agree. I just wish I was as confident as a lot of other posters that this thing could go down sometime soon.
Martin has an expiring contract and is a trade commodity. And I love Scola but he isn't a top 5 PF by any stretch
Why rocket cut Scola? I believe original deal is to switch Scola with Heido, but deep blue think it will hinder franchise, so the deal is both team cut them and Magic can pick Scola cheap with cap and rocket does't have to take Heido's contrat, is this a reasonable theory?
Where did you get 7 million? The guy is gonna average 10 million a year over the next 3 years...and I love Scola, but he is far from top 5 in the league.
You can't be serious! I love Scola as a player but he is not top 5. Scola isn't even top 5 in the Western Conference (Gasol, Griffin, Nowitzki, Aldridge, Love). As for Martin, he's an expiring and if not traded as part of a deal for Howard, will be valuable at the deadline.
Watch Morey is about to pull off a block buster and it will have nothing to do with Dwight. He is just doing that twitter stuff to throw people off the trail of whats really going on but something big is coming its what always happens it seems. I think we are way under cap and have to put more money on the books because of the new CBA.
So are we going to have 20 posts about Scola not being "top 5" or "top 10" because of a comment by a member? Is there really a need for that now?
Not even close 1.Kevin Love 2.Blake Griffin 3.Amare Stoudemire 4.Lamarcus Aldridge 5.Dirk Nowitzki 6.Pau Gasol 7.Josh Smith 8.Chris Bosh 9.Kevin Garnett 10.Paul Milsap 11.Zach Randolph 12.Tim Duncan 13.Serge Ibaka 14.David Lee 15.Ryan Anderson? 16. David West 17.Elton Brand? Then maybe Scola Ok the list is just power forwards better than Scola of the top of my head
So they are getting a player of Love's caliber instead? There only so many big man and stars in this league
