Ugh no my argument is that the NBA has a stronger audience because they are not only younger, but because the the ratings can only go UP( as we have seen the past 3 years lol). The MLB having the oldest demo is really bad( because generally the ratings go down.. as we have seen) Having the oldest demo is probably worse than being dead last in both, because you just know unless something drastic happens, that the ratings will drop every year lol

Basketball will never be as popular as baseball. And for that matter, other than the superbowl, football is a distant second to baseball. Nothing beats the tradition of taking your son or daughter to a baseball game.

Dont hate the messenger, i can provide more links to support my argument, but it would be pointless. Because unlike some NHL Fans who hate the NBA, i actually am a fan of most sports, and i dont have this agenda to crap on the NHL and MLB like some of their fans do to the NBA.
Maybe in terms of tv ratings that might be true, but going to the game its a different matter altogether. I'll be the first to admit that it is hard to sit through a 3 hour baseball game if I am watching it on tv, but I have no problem doing it if I watch it live.
NBA Finals averaged a 10.6, 10.2 and 10.1 MLB World Series averaged 11.7, 8.4 and 10.0 Those numbers might not be totally accurate (just a quick wiki search), but it's hardly a case of one sport dominating the other. And while the NBA has been trending upward in terms of it's television viewership the last few years, they are nowhere near the '90s. But then looking at baseball, their ratings are nowhere near where it was in the 80's. I'm guessing it's probably due to the proliferation of cable and the internet. Both sports have problems. NBA has an image issue I think regarding the integrity of the officials, Stern's unyielding power and the growing popularity of super-teams. MLB has always seemed to have trouble making inroads into urban areas, has a much longer season and longer game times. Basketball may be an easier sell on TV, but there's a reason Baseball stadiums can seat 40K+ ...it's the quintessential family outing (due I'm betting in no small part because of the cheap tickets). Maybe that all changes one day who knows. But I think it's really gonna come down to the players currently playing, the existing rivalries between the teams and match-ups. That post-Jordan era was murder for the NBA as they struggled to find bankable stars.
And yet Game 7 last year drew 25 million viewers. You're right though in that they are struggling to attract younger audiences. But it's silly to suggest baseball is dying.
Massive NHL fan here. In terms of MY personal enjoyment, NHL > NBA. But stop with the asinine stereotyping... any half-brained NHL fan understands that their favorite sport is a niche sport. That doesn't hurt my pride whatsoever. I've been involved in multiple conversations here where NBA fans g*ngbang the NHL and say it's irrelevant and worthless. Don't go playing the martyr. Like everything, it goes both ways. It's immature to assume otherwise.
People have been saying kids are losing baseball for years. Baseball is killing it at the gates and it's made up most of people that aren't 70 years old sucking on their oxygen tanks. Baseball revenues crush the NBAs as mentioned earlier. How is baseball at a low point?

Baseball will die if there are work stoppages, lockouts, and players/owner strike that will cancel the World Series. I still can't get over 1994, that was to me in my opinion the most exciting season that never was.
No worries. I love both. I hope they both continue to grow. I just don't see baseball on a downward spiral. I think for the foreseeable future it will be the NFL. MLB. NBA.
why people saying that the kids doesnt like baseball? there is something called the little league series, college baseball, etc. I think those kids and 18-year-old guys like to watch baseball in TV. they also watch other sports too, but Im sure they watch baseball or go to the games. Obviously every sport is having some problems, but people still buying a lot of MLB merchandise. A lot of people still playing fantasy baseball, that means they keep watching or keep attention to the games.
For your own sake you could probably get over to Omaha for the CWS and see how huge baseball is. You get into mid-sized and suburban cities those "select" kids' leagues are out of control, I don't think baseball's going anywhere, ever.
I think baseball as a sport is dying, the revenue numbers will catch up eventually to the decline, I mean it already started Look at basketball and what it has going for them, NBA is arguably 2nd most popular right now, college basketball is its own entity, while the game is rapidly expanding across the world. Look at the buzz over the Olympics. Hate to say it but baseball has not expanded its reach in years, it has a stronghold in America, and various south american nations plus japan/south korea. Basketball on the otherhand is the polar opposite, ratings for a Bucks-Rockets game in China which had Yao vs. Yi were bigger than the Super Bowl. Baseball does not even come close to something like this happening. Basketball will eventually become the 2nd most popular team sport in the world, behind soccer. It might only be behind cricket as of now.

Just because another sport stretches its reach globablly means another sport has to "die out". Baseball will still have its core audience. Just like golf will, even after Tiger Woods leaves it.
