Exactly. Daryl had to do something DRASTIC! I've been critical in the past, but kudos to Daryl for taking some real risks this offseason.

So what's one to do if they lack basic logic and can't tell fact from fiction if it hit them upside the head?

Well, they CAN move players to create capspace in the sense that theoretically Morey could trade Kevin Martin and cap space for Lebron James. It just isn't going to happen, because Brooklyn isn't going to dump all of the expensive players they picked up this offseason after 3 months in their new arena.

You do realize that no matter what R2K is right. Dwight has never said on the record he will not sign with Houston. Years from now, even if Dwight bolts R2K is still right. Unless you can drudge something up in the next 30 secs, mark this on your calandar: Dwight Howard has not said anything on the record about not resigning with Houston. At best he has said he will explore his free agency options if he doesn't end up with the nets. If you infer that to mean he will not resign here, then so be it.

What plan was that? Was it the Sign Chris Bosh plan? Was it the go hard for Carmello Anthony plan? Amare Stoudamire plan? The Pau Gasol Plan? Ohhh thats right it was always the DHo plan. If by plan you mean move along to the next option when every other option dried up and force DHO into a one year rental plan, then you are right. Being that everything has blown up in the Rockets faces over the last few years, doesn't that prove how arbitrary the process has been.

Get real. There has been no plan other than to try and lure a FA here. When that kept blowing up in Morey's face it became try and trade one here.

You act as if Morey's plan has been "Go AFTER Dwight at all costs" for years. Im glad you had the wisdom and foresight to of known Moreys master plan for the last three years was to land Bosh...errr...Stoudamire...errr...Anthony....errr...Gasol....no wait its for DHO. How could we not of seen this!!!!

    Baseless?

FOOL....the dude has repeatedly said he doesn't want to be traded to the H, and if is, will NOT sign long term!

Keep hangin hope on "he didnt say it himself...."

His people said it...which means HE SAID IT!

    He never once denied it!

Opted in with ORL like an idiot last year to avoid coming here!!!!

Then had the nerve to claim he was forced to, like a gun was held to his head. hahahaha

You think it's stupid to NOT want to mortgage the short term future for a candy cane and some peanuts....

Anyone that thinks that's a good idea is ABSOLUTELY STUPID.

Because Brooklyn has 4 contracts worth trading Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace, and Brook Lopez. The only player that they are willing to trade is Brook Lopez, however without a 3rd team to facilitate the deal, Orlando isn't going to want to trade Brook Lopez for Dwight Howard str8 up. And Team 3 would have to take on multiple overpaid players through a sign-and-trade just to make the numbers work. Therefore it isn't imposible for a deal to happen, it is however impossible for Dwight Howard to sign there for a reasonable deal (something close to the max) as a free agent. Its actually explained in more detail here: http://www.hoopsworld.com/brooklyn-nets-team-salary

Dwight Howard HAS NOT SAID that he didn't want to be in Houston. He has only said that he WANTED to go to Brooklyn. I think we can all agree that NO ONE wants to mortgage the farm for a one season rental, but I think we are underselling Morrey, the entire city of Houston, and mis-quoting Dwight Howard when we say crap like "he has repeatedly said he doesn't want to be traded to the H"

Dude, he's not worth your time. If R2K can't get through to these idiots, no one can...

i think this is extremely premature. It's July 12th! I mean the Vegas Summer League hasn't even begun yet and you're writing off this offseason. I mean so far, it's been somewhat of a disappointment, but i refuse to believe that we are heading into the NBA season with our current roster.

    1) Dragic was a very good player this season for the rockets, but we have paid players a lot of money only to regret it later (scola). Hell Scola's contract was atleast somewhat justified. Dragic was asking for all-star type money, he isn't an all star. If he becomes one, then i can understand your frustration..but you don't pay a player based solely on the future.

    2) As for Jeremy Lin..i don't exactly like this move by Morey..but i think offered a contract that he KNEW the knicks would match. and if they're going to match something big, then make them match something big. it was just a game to screw NYK over a little bit. worst case scenario, we get Jeremy Lin..someone who people actually know about. oh no.

3)Lowry simply couldnt be on this team anymore. Plain and simple, he didn't like Mchale..and there's no point in firing McHale after one lockout-shortened season. We are building our team with draft picks, that's a good thing. if you think the raptors are going to be awesome this year, then you share the opinion of the few therefore. atleast we're guaranteed a lottery pick.

    4) JULY 12TH. we will sign another pg. we just signed Scott Machado, who is an intresing prospect. and if you watched the scrimmage on thursday, you will know that he is a talented kid. and we have another few months of OFFseason, so im sure we'll get that PG.

    5) Chicago is likely to match the offer on Asik. If they do, then Morey will have screwed over the Bulls with a monster contract just like the NYK. If they don't, we get an elite defender, very good rebounder, and an offense that can be molded into average with the help of McHale, or Hakeem. sure it'll hit the cap hard if Chicago doesn't match, that's the only negative of this move. as for having both Asik and Howard, I don't see the problem..there's thing called a bench.

    6) We got two PF's. Yea that's a lot more PF's on our roster. But i doubt we're keeping every single forward on the roster. it's still offseason, trades are being discussed 24/7. give the man a chance, we have a long time until the season starts.

    7) so getting a superstar that is in his prime is a bad thing? If Houston, gets Dwight, and let's say another piece..and if we strongly contend for the title..you don't think Dwight will want to stay? You have to take a chance, it's better than never taking a chance, and staying at that mediocre - best of the worst, worst of the best, let's get the 14th pick - state. i don't see anything wrong in going after Dwight.

    8) I'm sorry if you loved Scola, we all did, I know i did. It was his time to go, we were simply paying him way too much money and for what? horrible defense? subpar rebounding? declining skills? I will always love Scola for his work ethic, and his ability to simply get it done. But we knew, from day one, he was expendable. no one in the entire league, wanted Scola and his contract, when that happens, you've got to let that guy go.

time. there's so much time. yet you decide to badger on a GM before even giving him a chance. make this thread in 3 months, where atleast it would make sense. but now? in the second week of July? c'mon, give me a break.

You can bet till the cows come home, that the leaked report of "Not a chance Houston" was put out by Dwight himself. It doesn't take a Rocket scientist to figure that out. Now if he follows through or not...who knows.

He may lose out on 25 million in NBA salary, but reports put him at earning 50 million more if he signs in NY or LA from Adidas. So what number is bigger? In one year if he has a chance to go to NY or LA and the Rockets through out that extra 25 million Im sure he wont regret the extra 50 million. So what we will get is a sulking Howard for a year with "a bulging disk" problem.

In all honesty, I believe that the guy just wants a fresh start. Somewhere he will be loved, and somewhere he will contend. He wants a big city life and wants to be a big city star.

Daryl Morey WILL put together great role players and young talent around dwight, and the city will adore him. I believe he got hooked up on the whole D-will/Brooklyn thing because of what happened in Miami and Dan Fegan/his entourage wanting to cash in being in a NYC market. His people probably told him that with the help of the media and the Orlando disaster he could be in Brooklyn.

But with the new CBA rules and other GMs pursuing D12/wanting to stop another super team/timing, this didn't work out. I'm sure by now he is realizing this.

Come on man, don't let the media, your agent, and your entourage completely and utterly destroy your chance of ever being a likeable super star. Houston will love you, you will be paid like the best, and the whole world might see you differently.

    My bad. I stand corrected.

    He never said it.

Yet EVERY reporter is reporting that he has said it.

    *shrugs*

I guess they all just made it up.

    Ah well.

I didn't say he would resign here, I said there is nothing out there from Dwight saying he won't resign here. Don't try and put words in my mouth. Endorsements fall through, player contracts don't. Look at KB24 post rape trial. That $50 million is far from guaranteed. I'm not leaning one way or another, I'm just saying that a lot of people can't and shouldn't run an NBA team... hence why none of you does.
