When Lowry was traded, I didn't feel it. But with the amnesty of Luis Scola, it set in that virtually no one from that 2009 playoff team featuring Yao was on the roster anymore. Next season, it's gonna be all new faces and a lot of chaos. Heck, the most 'veteran' Rocket will be Parsons (no one cares about Kevin Martin).

Next season will be radical. Even as a pro-tanker, I will miss Luis, Lowry, and all the guys that I rooted for, hoping they would exceed the expectations and reality of a mediocre team and another 14th lotto pick.

That said, I'm looking forward to the new start, the new beginning, and I can only hope the new guys will be half as fun to root for and have half the heart and hustle we saw from Lowry and Scola.

    Me too.

Loved Scola and Lowry. These guys played extremely hard and are the types of complementary guys who can help win rings.

    Will miss them.

The Rocket of this era who I really miss is Brian Cook. While he didn't have the type of instant impact on a game that Kobe and Lebron have, his impact was truly felt on the bench where he vehemently cheered his teammates on.

If you are a "pro-tanker", you should be very, very scared right now.

Would rep if I could. Fond memories of my college years for that era, will always hold a special place in my heart.

I am excited about the youth movement though and hope we don't have to give up the farm and get stuck crumy contracts and less "assets" should this Dwight deal go down.

Technically, Patterson is more of a veteran than Parsons.

I didnt care much for anyone else. Even when i heard scola was probably getting amnestied, i was okay with it. but hearing it today that it actaully happened. I actaully got sad.

    pretty bummed. gonna miss scola.

I'm curious to see how many future picks this cost us. Remember, the Nets reportedly offered four of them.

Yup. The Yao-era is officially over. No more Lowry, Hayes, Scola.

Why? Do you think a team full of rookies and a center who has back issues is going to beat other teams, most of which have 2-3 all stars and/or solid benches.

    Minn - Love, Rubio
    Lakers - Lakers
Dallas - Dirk, probably Scola and Brand
    San Antonio - San Antonio
New Orleans - Unibrow and others
    Phoenix - Gortat, EG, Dragic
    Sac - Cousins, Reke, Chuckwagon
    OKC - Derek Fisher

The only teams in the west that we MIGHT be better than are Yellow State and Portland

I'll definitely miss Luis. His work ethic and never give up attitude made him one of my favorite Rockets of all time. So long to the Yao era.

Too bad we'll have traded away all of our upcoming draft picks...

This is the truly scary part about DM's strategy.

There may have been some validity to those who used to say "who cares if Dwight leaves after 1 year, then we're tanking anyway". But if we trade away draft picks, take on salary, and are stuck with a horrible team and Dwight leaves, that's the absolute worst case scenario.
