Crappy contracts aside, I just hope to god Morey doesn't have to pay out the nose with our young players to get this deal to go through...
I am in fact aware of that. but seeing as he didnt specify who he was talking about, I assumed Scola.
That was a tweet WOJ "Once Houston amnesties Scola, Rockets will be able to absorb 2nd max deal next summer in addition to Howard now. Gives them chance for CP3."
KC Johnson: Sounds like Houston's plan is to sign Asik, Lin to offer sheets Friday or Saturday. When that happens, the 3-day clock to match begins. 3 minutes ago Read more: http://hoopshype.com/twitter/media.html#ixzz20SGjNpHP
this. I can somewhat swallow taking on more than 1 bad contract (hopefully not more than 2) from Orlando if it means we can keep the young players we want (Motie, Parsons, White...). However, if we take on ALL the bad contracts, as was suggested by some, then being Orlando 2.0 makes no sense. i wonder if Morey can move ANY of those parts before their contracts are up? I still think Houston has leverage over Orlando. Dwight wants out, no other team is competing for his services...so we don't have to offer whatever Orlando wants while crippling our team for the foreseeable future at a risk of dwight leaving next year.
I'm confused by the Wojo tweet. Next summer will we have capspace for "a" max player or "another" max player, as in can we surround Howard with 2 max guys?
I really wish we hadn't signed Asik to an offer sheet now--I hope the Bulls match--we don't want to get him, it could screw up our cap space for next offseason. Maybe he is a tradeable asset though.
1 max player. If we somehow take back no bad contracts then we will technically be able to afford 3 max players (including Dwight) the same way Miami did. But I'm sure we're taking back at least 1 bad contract.
Sucks, 'cause we all love Scola. But it looks like Morey is actually going to land us a superstar player. Had he listened to most of you guys and used the amnesty on Thabeet last winter, it would be much less likely. And while Morey will have to give up a lot to get Dwight, don't count on him giving up all the important pieces. He's smart enough to find a way to keep most of those (Lamb, White, Donuts, etc.). I'd bet Morris and 2Pat are gone, though.
I think he means lower level star players who can command $12M/yr salaries. Guys like Iggy and/or Josh Smith.
