Don't SCARE me like that. Anyway -- amnestying Scola would still make sense even if we do not get Howard as we could develop youth more and get a better draft pick.
Deserves better? Let's see, He gets his money, gets to pick his team and gets a spankin brand new contract from that team on top of the one the Rox are paying. HELL! SOUNDS LIKE HE HAS IT PRETTY DAMN GOOD!
Two things: Les is going to pay in excess of 10 Mil for the right to spend an extra $20+ Mil. Morey has to know how much this will upset fans and how risky it is. I'm sure we will still hear all the whining that Les only cares about placating the fans with'good enough' and getting paid, but we shouldn't. This is the opposite of frugal or safe.
Unfortunately, the only way we can trade him without taking back salary in return is to trade him to a team that is under the cap. Those teams don't really need a guy like Luis. The teams that need him are the teams that consider themselves close to contender status over the next couple years. Those teams would send us back salary which wouldn't help us as much. Not to mention, the second round picks they'd send us would be late second round picks. Honestly, out of respect for Luis, this is the best thing they could have done for him considering the circumstances. He'll now get to land on one of the top teams in the NBA. I'm happy for him and I'm sure he understands that they basically just did him a solid by not sending him somewhere like Charlotte for a second round pick or two. Everybody always complains about the Rockets not treating our players right, well this is an instance in which it was time for the Rockets and one of our players to part ways and he got the best possible scenario. I'm sure he's thrilled he wasn't banished to Toronto like Lowry.
Quoted again for all of you crying over losing a 32 yr old defensive liability making 10 mill a year.
This guy is either a complete r****d, or he doesn't know a damn thing about basketball. What a idiot lmao. He will force his way to BK? Really? How the hell will he do that when they have no cap space.
I am convinced there must be 2 simultaneous moves here, similar to the Gasol/Nene pairing last summer. Taking back 3 bad contracts and adding young players is too much for a non extended Howard.
Agreed 100%. He's still getting paid and he's probably going to a pretty good situation. I don't see why people are saying we disrespected him. For all we know Morey had a sit down with Scola and they hashed it all out and agreed together this was the best option.
Can someone with knowledge please explain what is going on exactly? I've been reading that any trade that envolved Howard was coming by a 3 team scenerio where the Lakers were envolved and Bynum was coming to us and Howard to them. Now everyone thinks we are only directly dealing with Orlando when all the press that I've read said Rockets, Lakers, and Orlando.
