Anyone have a dallisgrass weed problem in thier yard? How do I get rid of them? They are multiplying. Any help will be appriciated. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
My only solution has been to pull them out one by one. I have a St. Augustine yard and I believe they are in the same family...so weed and feeds don't work on them. I'm sure CaseyH will be here shortly to tell you exactly what to do...
Find a herbicides containing the active ingredients MSMA, quinclorac and fenoxaprop. They are commonly used to control grassy weeds, while not harming turf.
Does anyone know if some budding herbologist ever tried to crossbreed weed with st-augustine like in Caddyshack?
With all the rain we've had this week, it should be pretty easy to yank them out. Just take a shovel and cut an 'x' through the middle and then pull the whole thing out. Put down some dirt or sand in it's place and the grass should cover it up quick.
1. Spread gasoline all over your yard 2. Light match, throw match. Now your problem is fixed, plus you won't have to now your yard no more.
Not in that picture you don't. St. Aug will destroy that weed, but it spreads with stolons requiring it to be mowed higher. You current height is stopping it. So your choices are 1. Kill the weeds with an expensive chemical that is bad for the water supply, kids, pets etc. They will show up again, and your grass will still look horrible. 2. Change your lawn care, mow at a height that St. Aug thrives at and it will choke out those weeds chemical and $$$ free. Added bonus is your lawn looks more like a lawn with the same type of grass.
