As I have said before: If Dwight Howard didn't care about the 5 year vs. 4 year salary difference, he would have just not opted in at the deadline, dared Orlando to trade him to a rental team, and then signed the 4 year deal to join Deron Williams in Brooklyn already.

He obviously cares a great deal about the extra year and $s.

I wouldn't be so sure, the only thing of real value there is the draft pick. Is their 1 pick better than our 3 + more prospects to go with them?

Also, Dwight absolutely WOULD walk from that Charlotte situation because it would be WAY WAY worse than the one he would be in here in Houston.

Idk, I think CP3 is. Especially when you take a gander at our roster. One thing to look out for: IF Blake is out for awhile, this could actually cause CP3 to lose interest in the situation in LA.

The problem with the Bobcats trading their pick for Dwight Howard is this: the pick's value drops greatly with Dwight on that team. If CHA gets Dwight, then signs a couple of competent players around him, that team is probably in the playoffs in the East.

Good thing about the "reverse protected" Toronto pick: Dwight joining the Rockets does nothing to the expected record of the Raptors over the next 5 years.

Our friend Ric Bucher is back :p

Brooklyn is done for now. Latest I heard is there is no urgency. The Magic will take their due time to make the best deal they can possibly make. If that means going into the season with Dwight on the roster, they will do that. The end game is to get as much as they can. The bar is set. To come out of this looking good and smart, they'll have to make a deal better than the Brooklyn deal that was on the table.

Possibility exist that he would not play anywhere else. Depending on rehab, and I'm hearing it has not gone well to date, on Jan 15 Lopez can be moved and that may be [around the time] when Dwight is ready to play again. He could remain property of the Magic into the season and not wear a Magic uniform.

absolutely...People really dont understand this about him...Sure he wanted to go to NJ...but he and his agent made a really poor decision about staying with ORL...for an extra year...very foolish decision has cost hima chance to get with an established power house now!

The Rockets will soon have the space to absorb Orlando's Dwight Howard, Jason Richardson, Hedo Turkoglu, Chris Duhon and Epcot Center.

    Kind of funny :D

Does anyone believe this? That Dwight suddenly won't be ready to play until January?

It was already established that Dwight may not be ready for training camp and miss some part of the early season.

    Brian K. Schmitz ‏@MagicInsider

Hennigan would not comment when asked about report that Howard would miss early portion of season recovering from back surgery. Why?

It's not worth it taking all those bad contracts. I'm not convinced Morey is the sweet talker everyone here thinks he is. I would go after Bynum or move on.

Goodbye Luis, hate to see you go to Mavs if that plays out...

The Mavericks will be aggressive bidders for Scola on the amnesty wire, league sources said. Dallas is serious about Elton Brand too.

alright, im getting excited about this. Let's go Rockets..bring it home!

Woj is tweeting that this amnesty of Scola lets rox give out another max deal next summer...gives them chance for CP3.

Once Houston amnesties Scola, Rockets will be able to absorb 2nd max deal next summer in addition to Howard now. Gives them chance for CP3.
