I would imagine that the delay in the offer sheets means Morey is trying to make some other move. Whether that is to trade Scola, trade for Dwight, trade Courtney Lee or trade some of these other contracts, who knows. But he is trying to make some move.

Edit: post above me gives good answer from Feigan. Didn't realize that trade wasn't complete

How do you know we aren't giving up everything. It sounds to me like Morey is still scrambling to put together a package that Orlando will agree to. For the last ten days Morey has been trying to acquire draft picks and create more cap space so we can accept Orlando's bad contracts. I think Morey has offered everything and Orlando wants even more.

I don't think he has offered 3 1st rounders, 4 lottery picks from the last 3 drafts, Kevin Martin, Parsons, Jones, and to take back Duhon, Richardson, Davis, Turk.

That is everything sans DMo, who wouldn't be eligible until August. Even if DMo were to be included, they could agree to it now and not finalize until later.

Edit: We can't take back all those contracts. Not enough cap room or outgoing salary. If picks were all signed, and waited 30 days + Asik and Lin getting matched, it might become possible. Take Turk out, and no problem.

that effectively delays rebuilding by two more years. For me, that's not worth the risk. It would be, if i was sure we'd be a contender with Dwight, but i don't think we'll be a contender with Dwight. It will take time to build around him, and we are not likely to have that time. Just my opinion.

but then again, i don't know what we are offering, or what Orlando wants. so i agree we should all withold judgement till we see the details.

While I understand the fear with trading for a guy who won't sign an extention, I think it's very much worth the risk. IMHO Dwight signs next year with whatever team trades for him this year. Jersey can't afford him so he goes with plan b, the most money. Whoever has him will be the team that can offer that.

I hope that team is us!

Do people actually like Howard (being a Diva, getting a coach fired, etc.)? Like his game (I don't think he has a very good offensive game)?

To me and maybe this is why I would prefer the rebuild, but he is one of my least favorite players in the NBA. I would root for him if we got him, but give me the rebuild with the pieces we have right now, any day of the week.

Curious what others opinions are, or if nobody cares as long as we get a superstar. Doesn't matter who we get.

He's made himself look weaker than Chris Bosh did during his first year in Miami.

I doubt there will be single player in the next three drafts who will be as good as Howard. There's only been one person in all the drafts since he got drafted who's as good as Howard, Durant. One player in about 6 drafts.

I'm sure as heck not taking those odds.

Durant because he won the scoring title? D-Rose won an MVP. Blake Griffin set rookie double double records. Kevin Love is the first player I've ever seen avg 20-15.

Hey everyone... The Rockets official website had a RocketsCast about 30 or so minutes ago, and I wrote up a summary of what was talked about...

You can check out the link (in the thread) and see my writeup of that RocketsCast by going to this link:

Not to mention you only have a 1/4 chance to get the first pick even if you have the worst record (which we wouldn't, Morey couldn't tank that hard if he tried, he's too good of a GM to ever be Bobcat-like).

It could easily take 10 years to find a player as good as Howard in the draft if not more.

None of those guys except Durant are as good as Howard though. Howard and Durant are on a completely different level. They're like super-superstars. Superstar++.

You have to give these players some time to grow though.

There is usually one legit superstar in every draft. Wall and Cousins IMO could be that good, hell I think Cousins could become better because he actually has a post game that seems to grow by leaps and bounds (and has received really good praise on the select team)

Blake Griffin definitely has that potential to be a top 5 player in the NBA someday.

DRose is not on Howard's level? Rose when healthy is a top 5 player in the league IMO.

06 draft was weak. Although Roy was turning out to be a great player and Aldridge is steadily progressing(although seems more like a borderline all-star type of guy)

Chris Paul in 05....point is every draft at least produces a star franchise caliber type of player.

Andrew Wiggins will be the real deal. He will be a top 5 player in the league one day. Its not quite time to tank yet till he's available.

I’m with you. Tired of this Dwightmare ****. I love our new rookies and the fact that they seem excited to be here. Superbaby Dwight has already scorned us and is going to keep throwing a temper tantrum the entire time he's here.

Let’s dump Scola and Martin and develop these young guns. I love this draft more than any Morey draft ever and want to see what they can become. Next season we’ll have two lottery picks (ours and Toronto’s) and be set up very nicely talent-wise and cap-wise.
