If Morey is so confident he can convince dwight to sign w/houston, why empty the entire organization trying to "entice" orlando to trade him. if he thinks he can convince him to stay then he ought to be able to convince him to sign as a free agent.

If he doesn't think he can sign him as a free agent then he should not trade everything but the kitchen sink. That just isn't smart business.

    Tell me I'm wrong.

You are wrong. Part of the "convincing" is the fact that we can pay him more than any other team.

You are wrong. Being able to offer him more money than anywhere else is important, and can only be accomplished via trading for his bird rights.

    You are wrong...lol.

It one thing to convince someone that leaving $20M on the table is a bad idea and that they will cater to all your needs.

But its a completely different story to entice someone to take a chance on an organization that currently has a track record of "farming" assets.

You are wrong, again, for the reasons outlined above.

You are wrong. Dwight has stated through surrogates that he wants to go to the Nets and that he will not, under any circumstances, sign a long-term deal with Houston. Even if that is posturing, there is plenty of doubt to take away any confidence Morey may have about signing him long-term.

If the plan is to go after Dwight in free agency without holding his bird rights (meaning we can sign him to more years, more money) then there is ZERO incentive for him to come to Houston. He'd be more inclined to do a sign and trade with the team that owns his rights for the 2012 season or resign with them. He has no allegiance or ties to Houston and without a superstar present, no magnetic attraction to join (see our attempts to sign Carmelo, Bosh, etc).

Only way is through a trade now with Orlando, and THEN its not even certain we can make it work long-term. I'm in the screw Dwight, lets get Bynum who can be had for less and would probably sign with Houston.

Ok, so who are the teams that don't trade non-star players?

Any other team that does not have his "birds rights" can offer a four year deal not a five and can only go up a certain percentage for a raise each year-Dwight won't leave Houston if he gets here-he doesn't realize we are the 4th biggest city in the country, he will get an extra 25/30 million from us if he's traded to us, and he will have a good Adidas shoe deal bc there are still a lot of Chinese
fans etc. Howard just was being a selfish corporation manipulated by Adidas and his agent-trying to get tons of cash blah blah it failed he hates the magic, and it really leaves Houston as the only contender, the nets can't offer but like a MLE to Howard next off season he will accept the fact he can't be in BKLN -he will love that we will build around him, and focus on him-it will be him and morey's team! When he gets here he will learn. Dream has worked with him so I'm sure dream will give him a welcome call and calm him down. Dream will for sure work with him more if he's here regardless of Dreams attitude or lack of partnership with the Organization

Cfans has produced the WORST threads during the Dwight sage I've ever seen. This is ridiculous. We have *****ing 50 Dwight threads and each of them at some point explain that we can possibly keep Dwight by telling him not to leave 20-30 million on the table.

OPEN ANOTHER THREAD AND FING READ THEM...

Correct me if I am wrong, but morey doesn't need to have Howard on the team BEFORE he can offer him a max contract. Ever heard of a sign and trade?

I assume then that the "convincing" you speak about has to do more with the city and the organization, than bird rights.

You can't offer a player that you don't have bird rights to the full max. They lose the 5th year and the raises are lower.
