With all this talk, there's bound to be a team that is going to nudge it's way in and screw up any deal for Howard or Bynum. Wake up tomorrow: Splash! Howard dealt to Atlanta.

Wouldn't mind Duhon on this team. ACC Freshman of the year 2001

Why is it taking so long?

Houston is the only real bidder. When you are the only bidder, you lowball (or Moreyball, if you will).

DH has depressed his own value on numerous fronts. The loss of NJ until January was a killer. LAL can't do anything without the Rockets' say-so. The lack of extension guarantees, inability to take back bad contracts, or not having draft picks to trade block the rest.

The major market teams don't have space to sign DH next July. If the Rockets don't get DH, they still have options to build through the draft or wait until next July as well.

Orlando is trying to pretend that they are a pseudo-competitor for DH's services, which is such a farce. DH wants to sue the organization for blackmail and breach of contract, they don't have a coach that would draw him back, and they couldn't put together a team around him while he's in his prime. Orlando is not going to both lose DH and be stuck with bad contracts.

The only leverage Orlando has is waiting until January. I think Houston needs the whole year to make their case to DH. Still, why overbid when you would just be bidding against yourself? Plus you have to wait until August to combine recent contracts into one trade-able asset.

    Chillax. We got this.

So a trade is coming before camp. Matter now where Magic can get best deal for Dwight, likely between LAL and HOU. Is there a mystery guest?

    Danny (Cleveland)
What exactly are the rockets doing?

Good question. Right now they are stockpiling assets. Young players, expiring contracts, picks. They are trying to build a package that the Magic can't say no to. Not sure they'll get there, but you can't fault Daryl Morey for trying. If they don't land Dwight, it might be a long year Rockets fans. Then again, if they do land Dwight and he refuses to re-sign in Houston, it could be a long year anyway.

Do you believe that Dwight will walk away in FA next year? Thanks

    Chad Ford (1:11 PM)
If the Magic hold onto him all year? Yes. My guess is he'll go to Dallas. They'll have the room and he's made it clear that's his second option after Brooklyn.

So after seeing all these tweets/reports from "insiders," are we at CF the only ones who feel our offer is enough for Dwight? They all seem to think we don't quite have enough, which is bull****, imo. But what gives?

We're not the LAKE SHOW and our GM isn't MARK CUBAN so we don't matter.

We should go all in for D12... Worst case we sign and trade him to a team that wants him (LA) so we will just get Bynum instead.. Win win.

My guess is that it's taking so long because now the Nets and us both know we are the only real bidders in the competion, and since that's the case I'm willing to bet Morey has pulled some of the offer back off of the table. I read that Orlando has decided to focus on hiring a coach, so they're probably going to wait to see exactly what the coach would prefer from our youngsters and draft picks.

Now have to wait on Magic to sign their new coach. I hope that process does not take as long as this drama with DH. Who are the candidates for the Magic coaching job anyways?

    Unreliable source(so I don't know why I'm posting this)
    Chad Evans ‏@ChadEvansNBA
Source believes DeVos is still in "win now" mode which is slowing up this trade process.

    Chad Evans ‏@ChadEvansNBA
‪#Rockets‬ will take Hedo, Duhon, and J-Rich from the Magic if they can come to an agreement

    Chad Evans ‏@ChadEvansNBA
Source believes the ‪#Magic‬ are hoping to get both Bynum and Gasol from LA. ‪#Lakers‬ aren't budging (yet?)

    Chad Evans ‏@ChadEvansNBA
Source confirms ‪#Rockets‬ willing to amnesty Scola if they can come to a trade agreement with ‪#Magic‬

Turk, J-Rich AND DUHon?!? That's pretty much all of their bad contracts! Morey please do not take back more than 1 bad contract. If you have to choose, I'd take Turk because of the fat expiring it will become which we can trade for Josh Smith or Iggy...

this completely contradicts all of the tweets which say the hold-up is related to Houston's unwillingness to take back a slug of bad contracts...

I guess I have convinced myself that this has to be the hurdle holding up this deal. if we were willing to take back all 3 of those contracts this deal would have been done by now...

Freaking ESPN, The Scott Van Pelt Show fails to mention the Rockets of course. Cannot wait too see what they say when Dwight becomes a Rocket.

Yeah I don't believe it either. If they take 3, I expect it to be JRich, QRich and Duhon.
