He thinks the Rockets are the team and presented a number of good reasons. I was listening in the car and didn't catch it all. Does anyone have some better info on everything that was said? From what I caught he sounds pretty certain Howard will be coming to Houston.
I recall that he feels the Lakers are out of it due to the draft picks they gave up for Nash. He also stated that there is too much bad blood in Orlando for Howard to stay plus they are in rebuilding mode after giving up their starting PF to free agency. Let's see what else... he felt like Houston's draft picks we have to offer were the key. Then he talked about the gamble Houston is taking and that we would try to pull in Chris Paul next year to entice Howard to stay. He also talked about Houston's relentless pursuit of Howard and he really thinks we are the only team left that they can make a trade with. He made the trade seem like a matter of time deal more when it was going to happen rather than if it was going to happen.
Thanks underoverup! I have honestly felt this way for quite some time. The only way that Dwight goes to LA is if we decide to facilitate; putting us in the driver seat. The only way I don't see this happening is if Orlando, stupidly, decides to hold on to him. I have some confidence that Dwight would not be able to easily walk away from such a significant amount of money; especially since we have the ability to get a Chris Paul, or other similar talent, because of wise cap management. Feel how you'd like about Morey, his cap management has put us in a very good position to break the mold and build a contender if the chips actually fall.
The guy's just trying to get rid of all the worse contracts possible while still receiving the best package available, all part of being a good GM and not just jumping on the first decent deal that comes along (ie. the Nets offer)... As Woj inclined, it's all a matter of time.
I wonder what the hold up is. I think Fegan said that it is in our best interest to wait til after the 17th to Amnesty Scola if that's what we want to do. Maybe that is why the talks have slowed.
I heard the interview and was VERY surprised at how certain Woj was that Howard would be coming to the Rockets.
surprised he was not thrown out for coming up with some far fetched lunacy! NETS ARE STILL IN THIS BABY!!!! regards, 98.9% of BSPN affiliates.
We would also be waiting on Lin and Asik's offer sheets to be matched (both of which I don't believe have even been offered yet?) plus it takes time to hammer out the right deal with the correct players, picks, cash, etc.
Here is a link to the shows website for podcasts, but i'm not sure if todays show would be up yet. http://www.danpatrick.com/
Good point, forgot about the offer sheets. Hopefully this is right and we are the ones that Orlando is waiting on. Funny how Woj is all over the truth and ESPN just keeps rolling out Bucher to talk about anybody but the Rockets.
I have a tough time believing we could land Paul even if we get Howard. He is in a pretty good spot right now in LA playing with Blake. Just like we don't see Howard leaving us (if we got him) in FA because of the money he would lose, Paul would be in that same boat in LA.
If the Clips get bounced out in the first round or get humiliated in the second like last season I could see CP3 coming here.
As soon as NY and CHI matches our offers for Lin and Asik, respectively, then trade talks will be finalized between Hennigan and Morey. So don't expect anything to happen yet within the next couple of days. Wait for Lin and Asik's offer sheets to come to a conclusion. As to why, i believe its cap related so lets ask Bimathug or someone else who's well versed with the technical side of things to give us a more detailed explanation. But yeah, that's basically it though.
Why surprised? We have the most to offer, we're the logical frontrunners and always have been, despite what ESPiN says.
